## Description

desertcart.com: Unitek USB 3.0 IDE/SATA Adapter, Dual-Drive, for 2.5/3.5" HDD/SSD | Simultaneous 1 IDE + 1 SATA Access; For 2.5/3.5" IDE/SATA Drives, Optical; Hot-Swap, Plug & Play; 12V Adapter Included; 6Gbps : Electronics

Review: Absolutely love it - I bought this Unitek adapter to rescue files from a couple of ancient IDE drives I found in storage. Setup was incredibly easy, just plug and play. The one-touch backup button is a handy bonus, but I mostly used it for straight data transfers. I was really glad the kit includes a 12V power adapter, because 3.5 inch drives absolutely need it. It also worked flawlessly with a modern SATA SSD. Speeds were solid, and it recognized every drive instantly. Build quality feels decent for the price. I would recommend this to anyone who needs to access old hard drives or quickly clone a drive without opening their PC. A simple, effective tool that does exactly what it promises.
Review: Worked great for my situation. - This thing is great. I had SATA and IDE drives that I had laying around and needed to find out what was on them. It was relatively easy to use lining up the IDE slot was a little tedious because I couldn't quite tell if I need to go right or left more to line up all the pins. It worked as expected. Good purchase.

## Features

- 【Dual-Drive Simultaneous Use & Wide Compatibility】This adapter supports connecting one IDE drive and one SATA drive at the same time. It works with 2.5"/3.5" IDE HDDs, 2.5"/3.5" SATA HDDs and SSDs, as well as optical drives like CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, and DVD-RW. The dual-head IDE connector (40-pin and 44-pin) and a SATA III port give you maximum flexibility for data migration, backup, or drive recovery.
- 【High-Speed Transfer with USB 3.0 & SATA III】Experience data transfer rates up to 6Gbps through the SATA III interface, with USB 3.0 connectivity (backward compatible with USB 2.0/1.1). Please ensure your computer has a USB-A port, as this adapter uses a USB-A connection only.
- 【Stable Power Supply for Reliable Operation】The included 12V/2A power adapter is essential for stable performance—please always connect it when using the adapter, especially when accessing two drives simultaneously. The 4-pin power cable is designed specifically for 3.5" IDE drives (not required for SATA drives).
- 【Plug-and-Play with User-Friendly Design】No driver installation required. Supports hot-swapping for quick drive changes, and features an On/Off switch to protect your hard drives from unnecessary wear. The LED indicator clearly shows power and activity status.
- 【What's Included & Support】You'll receive the USB 3.0 to IDE+SATA adapter, a USB 3.0 data cable, a 4-pin power cable, a 12V/2A power adapter, and our 24/7 dedicated email support.
- USB A connection, compatible with computers with USB-A ports only. Please check if the computer's ports are compatible before purchasing.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this power 2.5" SATA drives via USB only and not require the power supply?**
A: I am wondering the same question, but I would find it strange that the power supply would be needed for a 2.5" drive. 2.5" (laptop) drives run at 5V (same as USB). The power supply is a 12V power supply (which is what all 3.5" drives need: 12V power, thus they aren't able to be powered by USB). Every other adapter like this I have seen and used did NOT require the power supply for 2.5" drives. So, it is possible the power is needed, but it seems strange to me that it would be required.

**Q: does it work with External hard drives**
A: if you pull the external hard drive from its case it will work unless the internal hard drive uses an older PATA (EIDE) connector instead of SATA, anything from 2006 and above should have an SATA connector generally speaking.

**Q: Does this device support reporting of smart disk performance information back to the host?**
A: No. So sorry that we have no product can support reporting s.m.a.r.t (smart) drive information back to the host.

Any questions please contact us by mail.

**Q: Can i use this to connect an external drive to a home network drive? i have google wifi so i can't connect directly to the router.**
A: You can connect to anything that will accept a USB 3.0 or USB 2 external hard drive. You will have to check the information that came with your home network drive to determine whether or not that home network drive is compatible with an external USB drive.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Inexpensive way to save an old HDD that seems to have stopped working
*by L***Z on July 13, 2026*

It works. I had an 8TB Seagate HDD die on me. The Seagate tools didn't seem to do anything and when they did they showed nothing wrong but the drive wouldn't mount. I didn't throw it away but it wasn't working. Then I came upon an add for something similar to this device and thought I'd give it a try. I broke the HHD out of the case and plugged it directly into the drive, connected it to my computer, and then connected a new drive to the computer. The 8TB broke drive booted up immediately and popped up on the computer. No issues. I was able to move everything over to a new drive. Now I have to decide if I want to keep this old 8TB and put it in a new case, since it still works! I recommend this as an inexpensive/last ditch way to save an old drive. I was told by a tech friend that hard drives are more reliable than we think and that the weak link is frequently the connection boards shorting out.
