good book
good book for the person that wants basic information about fishing. I am a shore saltwater/freshwater fisherwoman and really enjoyed the basic knowledge the book has. I would have liked to have scene REAL pictures of the fish though instead of illustrations

Very handy.
I bought this with the freshwater fish guide. I wish it had color photos along with the drawings but they are really great books. The information in the front of the books emphasizes identification through fish and tail shape, coloration, fin and gill characteristics, etc. The drawings are consistent with the descriptions so the books are very effective. Ken Schultz addresses around ten categories for each fish so quickly locating specific info is easy.

better than nothing
Has mostly game fish with limited information. Doesn't address morphology variations in adolescent and mature specimens. Missing a few key species popular with anglers and spearos in Florida as well as commonly encountered shark species.
