A great place to start
One of the things that I hate about living in an apartment is the lack of yard space. I grew up on a farm in Western New York and I loved being around the fresh veggies. It’s something sorely lacking here. I never heard of vertical gardening before this book. I was actually looking on a book for how to start a window box garden. The instructions seemed easy enough so I got permission from my landlord to put one up outside my apartment. We have a small patch of open land there and it seemed like an ideal spot. It was a bit of a challenge but we got everything in place with a little trial and error. The book was a great help and we stuck with it. Things are just starting to bloom but this book was a great way of getting started! The advice in the book is practical and easy to follow. I like that it's written straight forward and it cuts out a lot of the fluff. It's short but informative and just enough to get me started!

Vertical gardening and composting reference!
Perfect for those with small spaces! This book not only takes you through exactly what you need to do to make and grow a successful vertical garden, it also talks about the importance of composting. I have always been a bit turned off in the past to composting, but I was ready to give it a try after reading this book. It's actually much easier and less messy than I imagined.I have grown herbs for quite some time on my small balcony, but never considered growing something larger like melons or squash. I also loved the inclusion to have the option to hire a company to come out and start the vertical garden. For people who are intimidated by gardening or don't feel like they have a green thumb, this is a great alternative.Loved all of the ideas on what to grow!

Good ideas!
This is a concise look into planting a vertical garden, which is basically just a garden that is efficient and can be planted in a small space, which makes it ideal for apartment or city living. The book discusses how to construct the garden, right down to the types of fertilizer or compost you can use and what plants grow best. There are tips on expanding your garden and what to do when winter arrives. This would be ideal to read for anyone that wants to be able to plant some of their own food, even in an urban setting.

I love fresh fruits and veggies and I've been looking for a way to incorporate it into my every day routine. I'm the type of person who forgets things if they're not right in front of their face to remind them so having a vertical garden might be what I need. I can also keep them close to my house so I wont have to be scared of some kids coming to ruin the garden for fun, plus it makes my house look really good.

It provides information about vetical gardening but did not answer the specific questions I was looking for. It is a great beginner guide but to really know specifics you would need additional resources.

Very little useful information in this short book
Very little useful information in this short book. It more or less attempts to convince you that you can garden vertically than give you practical and useful tips.
