Leaves me longing for the ACUMEN
I have been running with a HRM for several years now and I got this to replace an Acumen that finally died. This model is OK.ProsEasy to set and move through the functions. The face is larger than I was looking for but that makes the numbers easy to see while running. It has alarms that let you know when you are in out of your target zones - not a requirement for me but a nice feature. It is much easier to use that the $20 OMRON I tried before getting this model.Cons:The watch (receiver) loses connectivity with the strap frequently. Since 3 steps are required to begin tracking a workout this requires stopping (assuming you have noticed) to re-sync the device. The chest strap is definitely meant for men - a bit large on its tightest setting and while it stays in place my old model could be adjusted to really hug the chest.By contrast the Acumen was easy to use, reliable, durable, and affordable - $60 for a few solid years of use. While I will continue t use this for now - I tossed the OMRON - it leaves a bit to be desired.

Be Sure
The issues I described below have been wonderfully resolved! I have changed my star review from a 2 to a 4. This retailer kindly contacted me to let me know that I had faulty information about the shipping return fee. They generously helped resolve the situation with Amazon so now all parties are satisfied. I will give this product another try because the seller does offer assistance for someone like me who is impatient and direction challenged. This product does appear to be as advertised, however the directions to make it function easily are not very clear. There are 4 buttons, 2 on each side of the watch. There is a definite sequence as to how to press the buttons for whichever function is chosen, and that is not clearly defined in the directions. I was able to set the time and my age and after about an hour I could not figure out how to set heart rates. So, I went back on line for return authorization because no return receipt or label was included in the box. Being a Prime member, this did not seem unusual to me.What was unusual with my experience with Amazon Prime, and what I missed somewhere along the line was the seller is charging a $5.62 return fee which will be deducted from my return. Just as a matter of reference, I am returning this within 10 days of receiving the product. My advice to avoid extra costs: read everything carefully before ordering, be familiar with how to operate this type of technology, In this way you can be sure you will be satisfied.

Not convinced the calories or HR are totally accurate
I have had other monitors and generally use the built in heart rate monitors on machines. They tend to agree and I have a pretty good idea where my heart rate is. This monitor seems to measure low for heart rate. My heart rate is generally pretty high for exercise and I don't get totally winded until I am around 190, measured with a MIO or machines. This monitor will tend to record around 170 at that point, which is normally where other people get totally winded according to a personal trainer. On the calorie side, it records what seems like a ton of calories burned. During P90X plyo for instance I supposedly burned 1300 calories? It WAS an intense workout but I have trouble believing I burned 1300 calories.I am outside of the 30 days now so I might keep it. I tend to psyche myself out about the heart rate so that might be okay to be lied to about that. Also when it broadcasts to different machines I'm on, the lower heart rate doesn't tend to alarm people as much...A lot of people mentioned the controls. It took some practice (two evenings and a couple workouts) but I did get the hang of the sequences.

Easy to set up
Easy to set up, but not the most comfortable chest strap. Also, I had to reset the heart rate monitor twice during my run because it just stopped reading even though the strap had not moved.

The first set-up he got had some issues with not making as good of skin contact as it needed to to give ...
I bought this for my husband who is training for triathlons. The first set-up he got had some issues with not making as good of skin contact as it needed to to give him an accurate readout. I contacted the company who asked us to trouble shoot. Unfortunately those solutions did not work but they immediately offered to replace it- and happily so! Fast forward a week later...the second set up worked perfectly and he was really enjoying the distraction from his runs by checking his heart rate, etc. The only issue he had was when he jumped into the pool for his swim workout. The box says water resistant up to 30M but if you read the back of the owners manual ( which we did after the fact...) it says do not submerge the watch nor the chest band- which in hindsight makes sense BUT the box does say that you can. Morals of the story is- read your owners manuals all the way through and to use it on your dry-land workouts and it is great! The company checked in with me and I told about what had happened and once again- BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER- they offered to replace it!! I would buy anything from them based solely upon the customer service (and he said the product is great and does not require a smart phone and apps, etc.)

Great buy for the money....but a tad complicated to figure out at first
I love this watch! It works great although it is a bit complicated to get it up and running and sometimes the strap comes loose. But for the price it's really a good buy and very handy to have. Just seeing my calories burned add up motivates me to move some each day.UPDATE!!!After only having the watch for less than a month (used about six times), the strap (which doesn't stay on well, completely broke). It broke away from the unit so now the hrm is useless without a strap. I paid $39.99 for this and I noticed that amazon has almost doubled the price at $69.99. Definitely not worth that. Needless to say I don't love it anymore! lol!
