Are these for the front or rear. Putting them on a 83 el camino.

Both. You get 1 front driver side hose, 1 front passenger side hose, and the 3rd one mounts between the frame and differential housing. It ends in a "T" that feeds both rear brakes via hardline that runs along the axle tubes.

I have this set on my '78 El Camino and like them so much that I bought a complete set for my 4 wheel disc brake '04 Sierra. For reference, that's 4 lines @ $180 for the Sierra. These G Body lines come with crush washers, and I went ahead and bought shiny new banjo bolts to go with them, as well as "speed bleeders". However, they do not require any other modifications or even adjustments to the proportioning valve... Exception of course being that the rear line doesn't always fit its "home" the same as the old one due to GM doing things about 20 different ways during those years. A simple bracket mod might be in order.

P.S. You can further upgrade the rear brakes by using the disc setup from '88-'97 or '98-'02 Camaros  (they each use a different a style E-Brake). If you do, use a 9" dual diaphragm booster and large bore master cylinder (without switch) for a '90 Caprice for excellent braking on the cheap. Adjusting the proportioning valve will be necessary.

Or if retaining the drum brakes you can use the rear wheel cylinders for an '82-86 or '95-'97 S-10 with manual brakes (same part # for both groups of S-10). Their inner bore is 1/8" bigger and allows more fluid, therefore more pressure is applied. Use the bolt-in retainer as well or the cylinders can move over time. Aluminum drums are also a nice touch. If you swap to the bigger wheel cylinders you MUST adjust the proportioning valve. If you don't then the rear will quickly become the front if you catch my drift.

These particular model of Russell brake lines fit all G-body vehicles 1978-1987 6 or 8 cylinder. I purchase these lines for my 1983 Oldsmobile cutlass supreme.
