Very awesome sounding pressing and Varg’s most prized effort!
This is probably the best album to come out of the early Norwegian black metal scene. Definitely the most memorable for me. Varg’s style is unsurpassed and original. He’s a freaking genious. I’ve played this at least a handful of times and each time is a treat. For a Back On Black pressing this sure sounds amazing. My copy was very slightly warped but nothing major. Very very enjoyable album and if you like black metal and vinyl, you should own this.

Draugen !!!!!
I don't know why but I love this album, is not as good as "Hvis Lyset Tar Oss" and "Det Som Engang Var", but it is very interesting. All the Artwork is by Theodor Kittelsen. This album comes in a Digipak and only in the back part of the Digipak German language is used, in the inside booklet is all in Norwegian with the lyrics, some stories and more draws by Kittelsen. Bad production? Maybe but I don't care, it was because Varg used the worst mic he could find and he played with ordinary instruments, and also he took only 17 hours to record this masterpiece. Track 5 is very very long but is relaxing, perfect to paint or to smoke a cigarette in your room or to just lie in your bed while you listen to it.A mix of Black metal and ambient music make this album worth buying for burzum fans and for people that want creativity and not the same kind of music you can find in almost all the Black metal bands.

Wish I had found this earlier.
I am a relative newcomer to the whole black metal scene. I started with bands like Bathory and Darkthrone. The drumming set me off a little. Way too busy for me, with the blast-beats and all. This album has a more sombre tone, much more to my liking. You might even go so far as to say, this album started the SDBM movement. Alot of the more recent SDBM bands emulate the sound on this album, most notably tracks 1 and 3. (I am not great with song names, so I just use track numbers to identify songs.)What those bands do to modify the sound is often use 4/4 double bass drum patterns, which totally ruin the depressive atmosphere they are trying to convey IMO. Burzum uses those drum patterns, but minimally, and never out of place, like so much modern SDBM. I wish more bands dropped the busy drums, and got sombre, like this album.

Very evil, dark, and vibey cd.
The album is cool, I like the minimal production. I just strongly dislike Varg for murdering Euronymous. Sick album though.

Lots of repetition but it works. Amazing vocals.

Black Metal Masterpiece
Personally I am new to the world of black metal, especially the Norwegian bands. I dabbled with a few of the classics and thoroughly enjoyed them. I must say I have been on quite a streak with these bands because Filosofem is a fantastic collection of music. A bleak, repetitive, haunting, bundle of tracks by one of (if not the most) controversial figures from the Norwegian scene, Filosofem is truly amazing. I really reccomend this album for individuals, like myself, who are just dipping their toes into this genre.

Ambient Black Metal
Suoni scarni, viaggi mentali nel minimalismo. Peculiare, non per tutte le orecchie (e non vuole esserlo). Lunga vita al Conte Varg.
