Gritty and dark, but still fun
The writers of this book know who they're writing for, let's be real here. Their protagonist is a superhuman musclebound cyber-warrior goddess who has to cut through the underbelly of the world to make ends meet. There is an itch that this book is meant to scratch. If you like She-Hulk and Shadowrun, you might like this. If you don't, then you might want to try something else.Perhaps it's not the most groundbreaking of novels, but it doesn't have to be. Sometimes it's just fun to enjoy a story about a badass chick tearing a canyon through the enemy. It's why I can enjoy both Das Boot and Down Periscope. Or why I can enjoy both The Martian and Suckerpunch. Once in a while it's fun to just have some candy and enjoy a fun little world where we can read about. This is a story for people who like reading about musclebound female cyber chicks, if that's not your thing then I don't think this is the story for you. But if you do like that, then this can be a fun adventure.

Nicely written, lots of action.
This was different. It had some humor, and it wasn't boring. It wasn't the listed 165 pages, because the main story ended at 85%. I wish it had been longer. The World Building was decent for a short story, and the background history on the main character was pretty complete. It did have an ending that had some resolution, yet set up the series for continuation. What kept it only to an "OK" read for me was that I was disappointed that the Heroine was portrayed as rather unintelligent. I think if she had more to commend her in that department, she might have been a more interesting character.

Fun Sci-Fi Action Adventure
I loved this short, fast paced sci-fi adventure story. It's a great mix of well written superhero action set in a colorful cyberpunk universe. It focuses on a superpowered (thanks to nano technology) woman named Tina, an ex-World Wrestling type character named the "Size Queen." She's a very likable hero with an interesting back story and a good douse of humor. While this is clearly an "origin story" setting up a series, it has a nice story arc and stands on its own. I'm looking forward to seeing how the series evolves in the next book. If you're a fan of badass women (like She-Hulk) kicking a lot of bad guy butt, this book is for you!

Brilliant!
Reading the synopsis of this one had tickled my interest; sci-fi/cy'punk setting with a different take on the hero, going from 'super hacker or overly skilled security consultant' as I seem to have read of somany times, to 'ex wrestling super villain turned crime lord enforcer'? How intriguing. That and blowing up spaceships? (Sorry,STARships XD!) yeah I took a chance.Could. not. put. it. down. Definitely keeping an eye on this one. It's a new blend of everything sci-fi/cyberpunk/superhero, might have to make a new genre for this one!

I bought the second before I finished the first!
This was recommended to me and I was bit apprehensive. Steam punk /cyber enhancements aren't usually my thing but boy am I glad I read it.The writers do a grand job of introducing the characters and they're immediately relatable.I throughly enjoyed reading about Size Queen and I'm on my way to get the other books now.Gotta know what comes next! For me that's the highest review I can give, to buy the second book immediately after the first... I bought the second half way through, so what does that tell you?

It was my first novella and this was a great format to read on my kindle during the subway ...
Picking up a new book is always a gamble, but I was a fan of the Contract comic, so I gave Neon Amazon a try. It was my first novella and this was a great format to read on my kindle during the subway commute. Engaging story and interesting characters and the authors were able to avoid the usual sci-fi tropes. The writing is very evocative and it was easy to picture this weird future full of bio-enhanced operatives and former wrestlers. Particularly enjoyed the zero-gee barf scene. Would recommend and will be getting the 2 sequels.

Big and funny!
This is a unique take on the whole "fish out of water," scenario. The main character is trying to find her place in a world gone crazy with what can only be termed space race fever. She ends up being a genetically augmented professional wrestler and then the fun begins! Highly recommend this book!

An excellent read!
I thoroughly enjoyed this and bought it after reading the sample. As I recall, Barry Hutchinson recommended it. Good characters, lots of action. The plot was not complicated, but busy enough to entertain me and set up a new and different story universe.

"So what's the plan now boss man?"
A fast, fun and kalaedescopic swirl of colourful reading.Set mostly in Sao Paulo and, latterly, in space, we meet Tina, formerly known as Size Queen, an eight foot plus tall, augmentedly enhanced member of the Amazonian Women's Wrestling League, before that team was disbanded. Now fallen on hard times she is recruited by Doc who has serious plans for her and his future ...Easy to read, very visual and often humerous, this prequel introduces us to what looks like becoming a really charismatic and larger than life adventure story (or stories) to come in the Once Giants series.Obligado, Mr.Kirk

Really original
This sure is like nothing I've read before. A story about a young girl making the worst choice of her life, getting an augmented body to fight alongside other girls in a wrestling league, and in a foreign country on top of that. She was supposed to become rich and famous, but instead everything went wrong and she had to survive in a favella amongst gangsters to get her weekly dose of nanites. But then everything changed when she met Doc, a super augmented merc for hire who took her under his wing. The sci-fi/cyberpunk setting is really nice, and the main character, Tina, is likable despite all her flaws. The humor is a bit crude but that's due to the characters themselves and the environment they live in.I wasn't sur I'd like it, but in the end it was a good read. Give it a try.
