Durable
Use this a bit as a locksmith when things don't go as smooth as planned. Has been used to bash half drilled locks off, only a small deformation at the end after a lot of hammering. Has punched a hole through a lock before and needed to use a demo screw driver to finish because the point held up and went through.

Very good tool
Use this to do a lot of things you wouldn’t expect to do before owning it. Also make holes in drywall for anchors with this instead of drills. I have a very small 2nd awl I use more than this, but this comes in quite handy much more than expected, like lots of other reviews say.

Very tough awl
This awl is pretty tough, and I imagine that it will hold up. The shaft is smoother (polished) and thicker than other awls I have. The shaft tapers from the handle to about 1/8 inch near the point. It then is beveled at about 45 degrees to the point. This makes the shaft and point more durable, but also makes it more difficult to start a screw hole by hand, or to follow a straight edge for scribing. You will want to have something on hand to tap the handle to make it easier to start holes. A pair of LPs or channel locks will work, you don't need a hammer. Fortunately, the metal cap on the handle makes that easy. I've been using it on old construction and very dense old growth wood. On newer construction, tapping may not be necessary. No problems on drywall. In the shop I prefer a pointier awl, but this one is better suited for the unexpected, so it will stay in my pouch.Even though a more slender shaft works better for a scratch awl, I noticed that klein did not print "scratch awl" on the product label. Klein calls it a "punch/awl". Now I understand the shape of the point. For this reason I think it deserves 5 stars - as a scratch awl maybe less.

If your looking for a Awl that’s sturdy and durable this is item is a good choice.
My husband was searching for a Awl tool that was sturdy, strong and not break easily. He selected this item and upon arrival he was happy with his decision. Good value for the money.

QUALITY UNCOMPRIMISED
This demolition scratch awl is all you want it to be. Bulletproof durability, precise manufactured tooling, ergonomically perfect, corrosion resistant and the go to punch awl whether you want to make a mark or begin destroying something. So far, the tip has been impervious to distortion and I use it all the time. I am an advocate, mostly, of Klein hand tools and this is no exception. Minus one star because I believe it's a little high priced but, sometimes, this being one of them, you do get what you pay for.

Great tool!
This is real value for the money. I've scratched with it, punched holes, pried and used the butt as hammer. It looks like new. I'm very happy with the purchase. And I will purchase more Klein tools.

Love Klein Grips
The rubber grip on Klein screwdrivers are really worth the extra cost, this is no exception. As a punch/scratch awl I have only used a few times but it seems to hold up well. The grip puts it on a different level from other I have used.

Its good, not awesome
Unfortunately when i bough it, i hadnt really taken a good look and just put it in the toolbox. Recently i had a need for it and upon closer inspection it is a terrible tool. It is too late for return, and i should have taken a closer look. The tip is rounded and slightly deformed, NOT sharp. It is also a very shallow point, i think close to a 90* tip making it useless for anything that requires any precision. Usage wise, the grip is also loose and squeaks. Not worth the price. However if you need something like a screwdriver with the driver end cut off for some sort of "punching" work, this might do.

Solid demolition awl
The shank goes all the way through the handle, so it can stand up to being hammered if you need to. Great addition to my work tool bag.

Excellent Made in U.S.A quality
You can abuse this thing and it loves it. Very handy. Good value. A little more money than even a Klein regular scratch awl but just much more versatile.
