Derale 13005 Remote Filter Mount Kit

Looking on Amazon, it appears there are only a few filter relocation kits available to the consumer. The Derale Performance one, is about the most affordable you can find on here. If you read all of the reviews, it seems these kits are hit or miss. The main problem with them is, what you actually recieve is not "exactly" what is pictured in the advertisement. For the most part I don't like that, however ... upon receiving this kit, I found it to be of really good manufacture. The base is solid aluminum and very well machined. The parts fit together really well (solid, with tight secure and leak proof construction). The barbed fittings, while not being brass (as shown in the picture), are actually anodized aluminum in black and not plastic or composite as some others have said in their reviews. You can tell this by tapping them together - you get a metallic sound instead of a dull plastic sound. The center threaded post (what the filter fits on) fits snuggly into the adapter. There should be no issues there.While there's no dimple for a pressure sensor (or line), there is a place right between the fittings which could easily be drilled/tapped to accept the fitting (I believe that's why the area is there, in fact). This would be no more work than what you'd need to do to on the original design, except you'd need insert your own dimple there to get things started.All-in-all, this appears to be a very well built kit. Oh, btw, it states right on the adapter: "Made in USA" ... this is not some cheap Chinesium knockoff. I would recommend this to others without question.

Installed as a remote transmission filer in a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse with a 4 cylinder 2.4 engine along with a Derale 13501 transmission cooler. I used a Fram TG16 filter. After installation, I noticed some torque converter chatter at low RPM's. Thinking. and hoping, this was because the filter was restricting fluid flow and lowering fluid pressure in the trans, I took the filter out of the loop. Sure enough, the chatter stopped, and I ended up not being able to use this unit for an external trans filter. Additionally, I first mounted the unit with the sheet metal screws that came with it, and these proved to be worthless since they just came loose due to vibration. It may work with other vehicles as a trans filter, but not this vehicle. Overall, other than as noted, the quality of the product was impeccable.

Just as an FYI, this does not come with the part to attach to the vehicle. All that you get is what is in the picture. I could not find a solid answer for that question when I bought it, so I figured someone might find this useful. Luckily I had a backup plan to use this on a parts washer, so I am still able to use it. Regardless of that, as other have stated, the fittings are aluminum, not brass as shown. I guess you could say they list this item correctly. I purchased this item on 01/10/2017.

Worked exactly as it should. flows great and doesnt leak! the fittings are aluminum not brass but not really a big deal for me. make sure you use teflon tape/thread sealant rated for oil, the regular white stuff wont work for long. used it to filter my 4l60e in my tahoe. been on for 500 miles and the truck is thanking me every step of the way. Made in USA. ph8a filter fits perfectly and adds almost a quart to the system and with it mounted up front has kept trans temps down even better. Absolutely would buy again.

As filtering goes, I am satisfied. The only issue was trying to mark the holes for mounting. One hole is blocked.

The kit shipped right away. But the part was too small. Package states up to 3 1/2 inch filter with 3/4 inch center. Part was just under 3 1/2 " and center pipe was 5/8. Returned for refund with no problem.

Quality is top notch. Came with everything i needed. Would def recommend.

Looks like the picture, fittings are black, but good quality. I used it for a remote fuel filter.
