You get what you pay...
Where do I start?!Appears that this external holder is not as reliable or as fast as a much older inateck external drive holder I have had for about 3 years now. ( Inateck 2.5 Inch USB 3.0 Hard Drive Enclosure External SATA HDD and SSD Case - Optimized for 9.5mm 7mm 2.5" SSD, Tool Free (FE2002) )Machine:- iMac 5K latest spec - 32gb RAM- SSD drive Samsung EvoThis drive in comparison is much slower only offering:Read - 204 MB/sWrite - 230.6 MB/svs.InateckRead - 368 MB/sWrite - 398.4 MB/sEven though this may not be a HUGE difference this is enough for my USB backups to finish 40 mins with INATECK vs 2 hours with this FahanTech. Time is money after all...The actual external holder looks good but is a pain in the backside to open, I think it's because of the grips being too tight or close to the latch mechanism and casing being so smooth.You can open the bottom and top as the drive fits very snuggly to the case but this is twice the effort of my Inateck. I just have to pull up and release the lid and done, I can extract the drive as needed.So to sum up in points above:CONS:- Slow- Cumbersome to open- Mac OSX has to perform download of driversPROS:- Looks good- Small profileGo get yourself the inateck. Not much in price difference terms but will save you time = money.Have a good one!

Good value case.
This is a slim, lightweight case for 2.5" SSD drives. I looked a quite a few before plumping for this one. I was a little concerned that the drive might slip out of its connector in use but I needn't have worried. It is a snug fit and the case comes with some foam padding in case you want it. It is made of plastic so don't expect to be able to drop it out of your hotel window 20 floors up but it will work well for careful users.

Access speeds are very good (also depends on the drive you install)
Ditched my windows pc and had to put my ssd in an enclosure, found that FahanTech hsrd drive enclosure was just what i was looking for!It has a simple design with the aluminum shell looking quite elegant and goes with my apple products. The installation couldn't be easier, just push the small button to open the case, slide the drive in in close it back again. No screws to mess around!The cable it comes with is top quality and the enclosures does just what it is intended to without performance loss. Access speeds are very good (also depends on the drive you install). I would buy the same enclosure again if i had to choose. I did have to buy a usb-c cable that has the same connector on both ends to use with my macbook, since it comes with usb-c to usb-a (wich i also use with my mac pro).All in all, an awesome product and future proff for the next years!

"Great piece of kit" and good service
Bought one to connect SSD drive to new DellEasy to fit, no screws!When connected by a thunderbolt 3 cable (extra) blisteringly fast therefore ordered 2nd. Impossible to specify 3.1 and Type C connector for thunderbolt 3 connectionArrived as USB 3.0 with Micro b socket not type C therefore not possible to use with Thunderbolt cable and thunderbolt socket on Dell.Now being returned.Queried this with supplier, within 30 minutes had reply indicating Type C and 3.1 out of stock with new stock arriving in 5 days. Will rerder then and review.So far kit well designed, delivery speedy and customer service excellent!

Supports UASP, and drive goes to sleep when inactive
I bought the USB 3.1 version and I can confirm it supports UASP. Really easy to install a drive ( a seagate firecuda 1TB SSHD in my case).The drive seems to power down after 1 minute of inactivity even when the laptop is still turned on.Not sure if this is the enclosure doing this or the drive but it's a good feature and doesn't seem to cause any lag when it wakes up

Fantastic Casing for my Hard Drive . Works Amazingly. This is must buyif you are looking for a casing for your spare HDD
Bit weird that the other review was a one star one. I used it for my spare ssd 120 gb which i had spare due to an upgrade i did.Am normally very critical on my reviews but this is by far the best 2.5 caddy i used. Buy it . You won't regret it.

Excellent and lighter than a smart phone even with an SSD inside.
The hard drive enclosed arrived on time and is amazingly light. I fitted a 256GB SSD in and even with the hard drive in the enclosure feels lighter than and smart phone. Very nice piece of kit. I would buy the same again if I needed such a device.
