Touch: The Power of Human Connection

A simple little book on a topic which should be simple but we humans seem to make rather complicated. I enjoyed it. Easy to read with some good ideas. The trick is not in the book, but getting what the book is about into useful comfortable practice.

The author was at the right place at the right time but otherwise is unqualified to write a book on the general topic of touch. She does write a chapter on the science behind touch, but it's basically just quotes from magazine articles. As a psychotherapist I have become increasingly aware of how huge the need is for interpersonal touch -- this book is helpful but simplistic, and the author tries to come across as an expert when she really is just lucky to have stumbled across an area where there is a great need and not much yet to fill it. I think what she's doing is great but the book is pretentious.

Nice truth that get to the details of the value touch has in all of our lives. I will re-read it again soon.

Excellent book. I must admit I decided to purchase to see what was to come in the online course. Very well though out and very pertinent to our touch deprived world. Thanks Samantha!!
