Carbon General CG-KBO-01 Carbon Fiber Bottle Opener Keychain

due to the good reviews, I had been looking forward to this thing for a while. It is a lot more expensive than other bottle openers, so I am expecting a lot. I was told by the reviews that this thing is so cool, so shiny, so high quality, and carbon fiber sounds really high tech, But no. I was so disappointed when it arrived. It is not shiny as the picture had showed, it is huge considering it is a key chain opener. It is only a little shiny on one side. It looks pretty crappy.Of course, I need to test it to open a bottle. It does not feel tough, it took me 2-3 efforts to open a bottle because it bends a little bit and I don't want to break it.The ad says this is a good conversation starter, I don't think so. It does not look good, it is not easy to carry, it does not function perfectly, I have nothing to brag about it.This is one of the few products among so many I had ordered on Amazon that I was misled by reviews.Disappointed. 2 star is generous. The product arrived on time, package is OK. The company is polite to contact me via email, appear that they care about their product. Maybe this product is just not for me.7/23/15 update. I got another email from the company offering refund/replacement. I wouldn't bother to do that. The product is too big, I don't think it is an individual defect product. I appreciate their effort, and will raise it to 3 stars.

I have only had the product for a couple of days so I can't really speak to it's durability, but I can't give it more than 3 stars because it only has the glossy finish on one side. The other side is a rough matte finish and nowhere can I find that mentioned in the description or pictures. Given the price I think it should have the same finish all over. Since the bottle opener doesn't really have a top or bottom (it works the same flipped over) it isn't like the unfinished side will not ever be seen. When using it you are just as likely to see the unfinished side as the finished side. Also, the unit is very light, which is nice for your pocket, but it's also a little wider than i expected. I understand that if it were more narrow it would weaken it so I can't really fault them for that, but if I had seen it in person I probably wouldn't have purchased it and certainly not for the price I paid.

This product worked well and looked great. Problem is it's a small item so after using it a few times it started to wear out. Sadly you need to hold the small portion when opening a bottle or else you will snap this. Let a friend use it to open his bottle and forgot to tell him how and it snapped right off. For the price and the fact it fits on your keychain I would suggest buying this. I would get it again except I rarely need a bottle opener.

If you're willing to dish out a few extra bucks for this carbon fiber bottle opener, you will not be disappointed in any way. From the way it shines and looks sleek to the ease of opening bottles, this opener is a winner. For such a simple product this is marvelous in so many ways and even marveled my friend's engineering buddys when I let him borrow this! Also, it is insanely light! Trying to break this (with only one hand guys, lets not be greedy) is impossible as long as you only attempt it with one hand (seems sturdy enough where even with two hands I wouldn't be able to break it, but I don't really want to attempt). Overall, this is a great product.

You know its cool when you think about having one but when you actually get it, it's like, "Did I really pay $20 for this?" It does not fit well on a keychain and is just awkward overall. I heard some splinting when I opened a few bottles so I just let the real openers to the job now.

I was very excited to get this just in time to use at a friend's birthday party and as soon as I tried it all the excitement disappeared like letting air out of a balloon. Sure, it looks cool but for the price I payed I expected it to work. This bottle opener sucks! Thankfully I ordered more than one kind of bottle opener and just used a different one that night. One that cost less than half and worked three times better! Unless you just want another cool trinket to hang off your key chain, don't waste your money on this crappy ass piece of junk.

I received the opener and it cracked/broke on the very first bottle. I contacted Carbon General by e-mail the same day as I received the opener. The next day Carbon General contacted me and offered a replacement. I received replacement two days later, no charge. The second opener I received has been working very well. Carbon General/Amazon were very easy and professional to work with.

Nice and light weight. Could be a little longer as the fulcrum to open a bottle requires a little more effort than other bottle openers. Strapped to the side of my cooler, doesn't rust or deteriorate with the weather.
