MODMO Classic Aromatherapy Diffuser

I wish I loved this, but I'm disappointed after a couple months of trying this intermittently - a friend raved about hers enough that I decided to try it out. It's basically a humidifier, with a foam sponge on top that allows you to diffuse essential oils. I didn't find that it diffused them as well as the ultrasonic diffusers I've tried. It was a bit tricky to clean (rather, I prefer something a little easier to clean, as this has several tight spots in the base of the humidifier that become yucky if not changed/cleaned out immediately each day). I put it away for a month or so, but when my other diffuser broke and I came down with a cold, I pulled this one out. I found that not only did the oil not diffuse much in my room, but the area surrounding it was soaked (more so than I would expect from a traditional humidifier, even) - it seems to just pour out in a single column and not flow outward into the room. Maybe my friend loves it because she's in an exceptionally dry climate, and I'm not. I will say that the sponges that some complained about weren't an issue for me - they seem durable and it's not much of a problem to change oils (or keep similar oils on the same sponges). It is quiet, and I love the capacity, it really does run for 12 hours - but again, if it just soaks water onto my carpet, it's not worth running it each night.

This diffuser is great. The directions weren't clear on how to use the pad for diffusing the oil, but I received an email from the company and used it as they said....works great! I like that it puts some moisture in the air and the scent from the oils isn't overpowering. My clients really like it as well. I would recommend this diffuser.

Bought this diffuser and was very disappointed in it. Do not waste your money on it. It works fine unless you are buying it specifically to put scented oils in it . Puts out a lot of cool mist but not much smell is released into the air. I would not recommend this to anyone unless all they want it for is the mist.

I would have given this 5 stars if it had come with directions. One of the black plastic parts broke off right away but is still usable. On the plus side, it is very quiet, the reservoir holds a lot of water and runs for 12-24 hours depending on how much you turn up the mist. Once you learn how to use it, it is a nice unit.

Very nice diffuser. Also works as a humidifier. I have always wanted a device that can do both! I initially wrote a two star review for this device because I could not get it to release aroma into my small bedroom. It didn't make any sense to me because this thing is pretty powerful. First I tried putting oil on the sponge, nothing, then I tried putting oil in the water tank and was surprised still not much aroma. The company contacted me and suggest that I try wetting the oil tray first with water then instead of dropping 5 drops of essential oil to try eight. Still no difference. I sent a photo to them because some kind of black residue formed on my sponge. From viewing my photo they noted I was inserting the oil tray improperly. And in fact I was putting it in upside down!! I would take full responsibility for this error if the instructions had been more sufficient, but their instructions do not specify any of this and there are no diagrams to go by either. So while it may have seemed obvious to the company manufacturing this product it looks like we have both learned from this experience :-) I am now enjoying my diffuser. It does omit a fair amount of scent when oil tray is inserted properly (with sponge face up so that you can actually see the sponge and sponge is soaked with water before oil application). It is rather large, stands about 16", and tank holds a decent amount of water. I would recommend.

Was looking for an aromatherapy diffuser with a large capacity. This fits that general description. I am very dissatisfied with the method of dispersing essential oils. Adding oils directly to the water is not recommended. I have found out why. The plastic this thing is made of is highly corrosive upon contact with your aromatherapy oils. The system used is a small tray with a sponge mounted on top of the unit and moisturized air is directed over this sponge, to which you try and get enough oil to realize a benefit. It flat does not work. The sponge saturates with water shortly after the unit starts, and no amount of expensive essential oils is sufficient to realize a significant aroma boost. Upon refilling, the unit must be inverted necessitating removall of the sponge system and loss of whatever oil may be there. The plastic cover that comes in contact with the oils is literally partially dissolved when it contacts any oil. Ok as a humidifier. Forget aromatherapy, IMO.

I like how much mist this puts out and how quiet it is. However, even after wetting the sponge, having it face up and putting more than what should be necessary amounts of essential oils on the sponge, the mist doesn't defuse the oils into the air. I'm so disappointed because I really like this defuser because of the output, quietness and warranty. But if doesn't do what I bought it for, defuse oils into the air, I will be sending it back :-(

The base of this diffuser works like a room diffuser and its pretty quiet just like a room diffuser. The aroma tray is different from all the other diffusers where you drop oil in the water. It pushes out the mist and then goes over the EO as it passes over the tray. I only use YL oils and it works really well. At first it didn't seem to push a lot of aroma out but after I filled the sponge with water first then put the oil on the sponge it works really well. I use it when I sleep and I love that I can dial in how much mist I use. Really good diffuser.
