Makes a great margarita, Trader Sam style!
I consider myself a margarita connoisseur and make them quite a bit for friends and family. I make them strong, following a traditional recipe. When I was at Disney World recently, I tried a margarita and several tiki drinks at Trader Sams (at the Polynesian resort). All of their drinks were fantastic, and after a little research it seems they use BG Reynolds in all their drinks. I tried this Falernum syrup as a sweetener in my margaritas and "yum" - they taste very similar to the ones at Disney. Here's the recipe I use:- 2 oz tequila (100% agave)- 1 oz fresh lime juice- 1 oz orange liquor (Cointreau, etc)- 1/2 oz Falernum- 1/2 oz agave nectar (you can reduce or omit this if you want to reduce the sweetness)Try it at your next taco Tuesday!

Growing Mold- Stay Far Away
Got this at the end of June and by Aug 12 its growing mold. I am incredibly disappointed. This is absurd. I am so grossed out.

Best commercial falernum I've tried so far.
I make homemade falernum for cocktails, but the process takes a bit of time. Sometimes, you just want something ready to go, especially if you don't have lime zest/almonds/ginger in your pantry at all times. This falernum smelled nice, when opening up the bottle. I tried some by itself and it had a nice spice laden taste to it, similar to a cinnamon syrup, only this tasted of cloves and citrus. I tried the falernum in one of my favorite tiki drinks, the Puka Punch and it worked well, though that cocktail has a bunch of other ingredients. My next cocktail, was probably a better assessment of the syrup - I made a drink with 1.5 oz Jamaican rum, .75 oz fresh lime, and .75 oz falernum. Oh man, this made for a great drink! The only negative, I can think of, is that traditional falernum has a bit of alcohol in it, as a preservative. This doesn't, though you could easily add a splash of vodka to preserve it longer in your fridge. When I'm not making falernum by hand, this will be my go to choice.

It IS, In Fact, Cinnamon Syrup
So here's the thing: I can make this stuff just as good at home. "Then why the heck did you BUY SOME?" I hear you cry. Fair question, the answer is that I bought some to see if it could be BETTER than what I make. It wasn't. But it's still good. What does this mean? Well, it means that TASTE-WISE, BG Reynolds Cinnamon Syrup is real good. Subtle. Clean. It tastes just like the cinnamon syrup mama used to make if, by "Mama" you mean me. My only real complaint about this syrup is that it is very thick. In fact, it's nearly twice as viscous as the syrup I make at home which makes it hard to use in concert with a Japanese jigger and is really the only reason that I probably won't repeat the purchase. If you're not as skilled as I am in the ol' syrup kitchen, you need BG Reynolds. If not...Well...You don't. Weird how that works, isn't it?

The missing ingredient...
My Old Fashioned cocktails were always good. But there was always something missing. While they were good, they weren't up to par with those served at Trump Tower and similar places. At the advice of a friend who knows cocktails, I bought the BG Reynolds and the Jack Rudy Demerara Syrups. Both are superb. And oh my. Now I have the quality and flavor of the best at my fingertips. And for a fraction of the expense.

Syrup was great for Old Fashions that we batched for our wedding
Syrup was great for Old Fashions that we batched for our wedding, HOWEVER I am only giving this 4 stars because the packing was terrible. 9 bottles packed in a huge box with some bubble wrap around them but could easily jumble around. Luckily none of our were broken especially 4 days before the wedding but BG should really think about packing them in liquor or wine packing boxes instead, I was wholly PO'd upon opening the box because I just knew some would be broken.

If you like tiki drinks, you need this.
If you don’t have the time or patience to make your own cinnamon syrup, which is an ingredient in the “Zombie” and “Jet Pilot” cocktails, get this product. You will not regret it. It’s also a necessary ingredient in the “Nui Nui” and “Tropical Itch” cocktails. Some tiki drinks are not tasty, but all tiki drinks that have cinnamon syrup are delicious.

The drinks didn't taste very good and I was disappointed
I originally started to make old Tiki recipes with Hawaiian pancake syrup, as I was worried about the cost of the ingredients I had already ordered (orgeat, falernum, etc) and wanted to cut corners. The drinks didn't taste very good and I was disappointed. Getting this syrup has opened up a new world, I'm loving all of the drinks I make with it. Passion Fruit is one of the best fruit flavors out there and you get that bright fruity taste from this syrup.
