Q: Is the grill ready for gas line hook-up, or extra parts needed?

Frances - the grill works with a small propane cylinder (not included) and has the hook-ups needed for that. If you wanted to connect it to larger propane tank, you would need a high pressure propane hose. Q: Can someone tell me the difference between the coleman camp propane grill/stove and the coleman perfect flow grill stove?

I can't really see a difference. I bought the camp propane grill/stove but it has perfect flow technology and instastart igniter. Very close in price. Not sure other than name difference.

Q: Is the grill grate cast iron?

No, it is not even magnetic, so if there is any steel or iron there, it is minute amounts. I think it is an aluminum formula. Thus, this is why it is so light weight and also why you don't want to cover it. Aluminum melts at 1221 degrees. So if you don't cover the grill, such as putting a large pot on it, you will never get the metal that hot. I would pay for a cast iron grill top if they had a replacement...simply because I don't plan on packing this. But I have grilled many times on it with not a problem.
