Fantastic book!!!
Dr. Latham writes with an incredible style. His ideas are easy to understand as well as his ability to put research into action. The book also conveys the message that it's time to use research-based methods that are hard to come across with just common sense. This book is a must for anyone or any company that wants to bring out the best from their people in the workplace as well as to impact the bottom-line.

A good tool
The author takes effective leadership ideals and translates them into actionable steps to hire high-performers, execute strategy, and maintain a motivated, high-performing team through job satisfaction. A quick and engaging read that is well worth any busy exec's time.

Reguired Reading
This book was required for a course and was also a practical guide for becoming a good manager and leader. It clearly shows how evidence based management can assist one in making very good decisions.

Good for all who start taking up managerial/supervisory positions
My review title says it all. Though with solid, pragmatic and helpful advice, people who have read two or more books on leadership and management books are not likely to be satisfied. Buyers beware!p.s. Below please find some favorite passages of mine fyr.Without the right people, any strategy – no matter how promising or well designed – will be rendered useless. With the right people, however, goals get met, strategy gets executed, and organizations soar. For e.g., in the service industry, it isn’t the CEO’s vision that brings repeat business – it’s the friendliness and helpfulness of the wait staff, desk agents, and parking valets…At the moment a service is delivered, that one person, that single server, is the organization for the customer. If the car rental clerk loses your reservation, you don’t just blame that clerk, you conclude that the entire company is, at best, mediocre. ….You must pick winners – the kind of people who are able to take decisive action consistent with your team’s vision and goals. These high performers are the ones who do great work despite the ambiguity, complexity, and chaos inherent in organization life. Pg1How you measure performance conveys loudly and clearly what you believe is important, no matter what you say is important. Evidence based managers make sure that the measurement system is aligned with the vision and goals. Pg5010x10x0=0 pg53Nothing gives most people more joy than feeling that what they say and what they do are appreciated. Pg55Apathy has an easy antidote. Praise your people for what they do. Pg56The absence of complaints is one of the surest signs of a failing relationship. Pg57Few things kill an employee’s motivation faster than perceptions of injustice. Pg98GROW model for coaching: Goal. Reality. Options. What and when. Pg195Feedback checklist: Focus on the behavior rather than the person. Give feedback on one or two critical behaviors. Focus on the future, not the past. Never confuse honesty with hurtfulness. Pg196Feedback in the absence of goal setting has little or no effect. Pg197

Very inspirational
