Sane or Insane? Can she find the truth before it's too late?
Sane or Insane? Can she find the truth before it’s too late? The Other Lady Vanishes by Amanda Quick is refreshingly mysterious. I love a good mystery and this one fits that and exceeds it. The 1930s, Hollywood actors, California coast and intrigue, what more could you ask for. When I started this book I wasn’t sure what I expected. But I will tell you that I hated putting it down. I had to know who was murdering the people and if Adelaide would be alright. I was up until one in the morning. It is that fabulous.Adelaide Blake is a wonderful character. She is a young heiress who finds herself locked in a sanitarium against her will. She escapes but must hide as she knows they will come looking for her. I love that she is strong and capable of taking care of herself. She is educated and well-liked, but since her bout, in the sanitarium, she doesn’t know if she can trust her own intuition.Jake Truett is a very strong character. He plays the Los Angeles businessman in Burning Cove for some rest and relaxation, to get over the suicide of his wife. Jake takes a liking to Adelaide and together they make a great team. Jake is protective, but he also trusts Adelaide to be herself. Jake has his own secrets, but our couple must figure it all out to stay alive. The mystery is fabulously written, I like to think that I am good at finding the clues and figuring out the mystery before the sleuths. I had most of this one but I didn’t see the end coming. I love the settings, the descriptions of clothes, the cars, clubs, and motor courts. Ms. Quick excellent job weaving the mystery and the historical details together.5 Stars for The Other Lady Vanishes by Amanda QuickMy rating for The Other Lady Vanishes by Amanda Quick is 5 stars. This is the first time that I have read a book by Amanda Quick. I have to tell you that I also didn’t realize that this book was part of a series. But it truly makes sense. Highly Recommend. Entertaining and Engaging
Jayne Ann Krentz never fails to provide readers with a wonderful story. This latest offering is no exception. It is well written, entertaining and engaging. The hero and heroine were well drawn and likeable, as were the supporting characters, some of whom were familiar from book one of the trilogy. The villains were not as villainous as those in some of Ms. Krentz’s previous books, though, so the tension was mild but still satisfying.Everything about this book was good, but something was missing for me. I felt this book didn’t have as much passion and intensity as I have come to expect in an Amanda Quick book. By that, I don’t mean sex scenes and I don’t mean non-stop action, angst and violence. Amanda Quick books have sparkle, vibrancy, emotional intensity, passion, humour and brilliant repartee. This novel had those characteristics, but in less measure than I expected. As a result, everything felt slightly muted, as if the full potential hadn’t been reached.I think part of the reason why I didn’t view this as a five-star book is because I’m influenced by my personal bias. I love the Victorian and Medieval settings of Amanda Quick’s prior books and I’m still trying to get used to the stories set in a more modern era. Nonetheless, this was still a very good read and I enjoyed it.I definitely recommend this book, as well as any of the Jayne Ann Krentz/Amanda Quick/Jayne Castle books. They are terrific stories with wonderful heroines and swoon-worthy heroes. My husband and I reread her books at least once a year and my husband loves her books as much as I do.

Great Read
It’s amazing to find an author who still writes interesting stories. So many “name” authors have given up and begun either phoning In reused stories or their works read like a demented dream. I have yet to be disappointed by any of the works by Amanda/Jayne. Each is a well written story with great characters and an imaginative plot. Great Job!Burning Cove is populated with interesting characters. You can visualize it as a summer destination with charm and mystery. Adelaide and Jake are both recent additions who each have secrets. How their secrets intertwine gives this story both mystery and romance. Great job in the mystery...I wasn’t certain about all the roles to the very last chapter. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I’m positive it will be as entertaining as this book.

a must-read author…
Amanda Quick / Jayne Ann Krentz / Jayne Castle is a must read author for me. I pre-order her books as soon as I get notice of one. They are all entertaining reads. This one, like most, has a deeper side to it, with threads of kidnapping, rape, and murder. Most of her books involve a mystery of some type, and this series is no different. This series, so far, focuses around murder mysteries, relating to the glamorous Hollywood of yesteryears.

Female Powerhouses Abound
I loved this book. Whether the characters were heroines or villains there were absolutely no wilting violets to be found. Starting the book off in a mental asylum with an escapee, drugs, murder, betrayal, and all sorts of treachery let me know right away this book was going to be fast paced with all sorts of twists and turns.I also loved that the hero wasn’t a saint, and had moments where you wondered if he was actually the villain. It was refreshing to me that just when you thought you had the bad guy figured out, you didn’t. The manipulations, strings pulled, the dark underbelly of drugs, the war looming on the horizon, all set in what seemed to be a sleepy little oceanside vacation escape for the movers and shakers of pre-prohibition Hollywood and the old money of Los Angeles made this book fun. These twisty, turn-y mysteries where women are more than capable of rescuing themselves is what has made Amanda Quick a must read for me.

The review as asked for
I enjoyed the book very much. It had everything I like and a bit of humour as well. I enjoy your writing a lot, especially the arcane books

Recomendo.

I always enjoy Jayne Ann Krentz. When you pick up one of her books ,you know your in for a good time. Her way with words is fun and easy , her plots twists are a surprise and very fulfilling when you get to the end .Can't go wrong.

JAK se oscurece
Buena novela policíaca paranormal en la línea de JAK con un tono un poco más oscuro de lo que nos tiene acostumbradas.

It's a good mystery book with a little sex
I like the way this story was told. It's a criminal mystery as always from Amanda Quick.A nice read for a quiet evening. The only thing what was to much, the Sex scene.I could do good without it. It would be more romantic. But beside that a good read.
