This book is fantastic! I'm an engineer, and not a language person, and I can definitively say this is the first time I've felt language come to me easily.I recently get into listening to KPop, and started dating a Korean girl, so I wanted to start to learn Korean. I ordered this book on a whim, as it seemed to line up with my interests. The book is structured really nicely, teaching me hangul, vocabulary, and grammar structures without making it feel like a lesson. I would listen to KPop and learn Korean at the same time. The design is nice and flows well - a photo of one of the pages is attached. It's somewhere between a textbook and a workbook, which I found to be a novel concept.The data science thing to me sounded like a gimmick at first, as I know some data science. This book did actually use data science, giving me the words and phrases I'd run into most often first. I didn't start with phrases I'd never use like "there is an apple in the tree", but phrases I ran into the very next song I listened to. My music listening pleasantly turned into learning and flashcards.

ARMY/KPOP fan here. Already been learning Korean for a year so I just skimmed through the hangul section. The rest of the book is really useful and stuff I hadn't learned yet. Only problem with the book is some examples are confusing but that's just part of learning a language I guess. Still only half way through as the lessons cover a lot.

This has been super helpful to me so far! I got 2 books and have been using them simultaneously and this one is better. It says it’s specifically for Kpop fans, but honestly, I think it’d be helpful to anyone who genuinely want to learn Korean! I can actually read Korean now, that only took a few days! 만세!

I haven't finished the book yet so I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt but when I received it and started the FIRST FEW PAGES, I had to edit because things are wrong. I have studied Korean for 5 months and got this book thinking it would be a helpful little worksheet with the addition of Kpop, win win right? No, this has been a headache. There are typos in both Korean and English, incorrect pronunciation, Romanization which should never be taught in any language being learned. I understand this book is solely to be able to understand words you're hearing in Kpop songs but if you're going to even begin teaching the language, you need to do it right and maybe take a little longer than March 2019 to publish your "helpful" beginners guide.

I love this book. It really is a helpful addition to my Korean learning supplies.The book is obviously for those wanting to understand Kpop lyrics but I feel it can be helpful to all wanting to learn Korean. That said, it wouldn’t be your only tool if wanting to do more with the language than understand and sing along with your favorite Kpop music. For example, the book may not give the formal version of words that you would want to know if speaking Korean with others.The author uses romanization in the book but also Hangul. Don’t Be tempted to just learn the romanization. If you are serious about learning Korean, learn the Korean alphabet! It is beautiful, simple to learn, and helps you understand the pronunciation of words more than romanization.I am not even half way through the book but have found some little jewels with easy to understand grammar help, pronunciation tips that I hadn’t found elsewhere, and information about why a word may not sound like it is spelled when a native speaker is talking fast (or singing).I love the idea that this book will give you the words, grammar, and phrases that make up 35% of Kpop songs. I was unsure what to really expect with this book but was so pleasantly surprised that I just had to share my experience with it. I see now this book may be out of print and hard to get. I say if you are a Kpop music lover, find one of these books if you can, new or used.Good luck on your Korean learning journey and I hope this review was helpful to you.

I bought this book as a complement to my regular Korean textbook and it fulfilled all of my expectations. It teaches informal Korean (in addition to the formal Korean I'm learning from the other book) and lyrics identifiable in Kpop. I wouldn't say it will prepare you for all (formal) situations but it is a great supplement to the knowledge you already have. It covered some topics and words I was interested in but couldn't find in regular textbooks. However it's good to know some formal basics first. I recommend this book for all people who want to expand their knowledge of Korean but who will remember it is used in informal settings and I'd encourage all to learn some formal Korean too :) Overall, a great book. Has many similar examples which helps train phrases and memorize them. I like the review sections and although I don't always get the correct answers, I'm getting better. This book is definitely a help for beginners like me.

It’s pretty good. However, its teaching 반말 which if used in a more formal setting (like when you first meet someone) it’s not the best, since the book is supposed to be more everyday and not textbooky. But the actual book and format is fun and easy to understand.

My daughter says it’s great. She has learned a lot from this book. She’s obsessed with Kpop and really happy to be able to understand lyrics and the overall structure of the Korean language better.

Much more interesting than textbooks. Felt I was learning quicker and learning relevant words. Would recommend to anyone who likes Kpop or who wants to learn Korean

The book is cool and printed nicely. You can't expect to learn a new language from one book obviously.

This book is amazing!! I have zero experience learning Korean and this book starts from the very beginning and helps you with everything from the alphabet to forming sentences and learning know words. I highly recommend you buying this.
