The Decline of Schecter Value
I've been buying Schecter guitars since the early 2000's and I've loved them. I own a C-1 Classic, Hellraiser C-1FR, Hellraiser Extreme, Solo 6 Custom, and a C-1 Plus. All of them are excellent guitars with impeccable workmanship. I got the bug to buy a new guitar recently. I ordered 3 different Schecter guitars and ended up returning all of them due to quality issues. The first one was the Silver Mountain C-1 FRS, which had shipping damage, but also shoddy fretwork and lots and lots of dust sealed into the paint. Fret buzz across the entire neck. The second one was the C-1 FRS SLS Elite. This one had bubbles in the finish, exposed glue at the neck joint. and once again excessive dust sealed in the finish. The fretwork was perfect until you got to the 12th fret, then it looks like they forgot to finish the rest. They also had the FR springs tightened to lower the rear of the bridge which lowers the string height. That's a big no-no and a bad setup. Then there's this PT Special. Again, excessive dust sealed into the finish which makes the guitar feel like sandpaper. There was a chip in the wood where the neck meets the body just above the neck pickup. They didn't even seat the screws holding the bridge down, a couple were sticking up 1/8". These were all brand new guitars from reputable dealers and not seconds. Three strikes and you're out Schecter. Their prices have soared while their quality has dropped below subpar. I don't see any value in Schecter guitars anymore.

Dissapointed
First impression. Pulled the guitar out of the package on arrival flick the switch turned the knobs. The three-way switch was broken and the volume knob is loose. This is a Korean made guitar which normally means good quality. I’m not sure if this may have been a B stock instrument But the package did not appear to have been opened previously and showed no sign of damage. My general impression of the instrument: the fret work seems good, no sharp edges may need some minor leveling. The intonation was close. The action was good except at the 1st fret it is high which is not unusual the nut needs to be cut a little. I like the contour of the body and the general feel of the instrument. While the fretboard side of the neck is nice the back is dissapointing with minor finish imperfections. When I removed the switch plate to see if the switch was loose it was broken and I also noticed one of the screws holding it in was not in the proper location- see photo. If I had paid $599 for it I would definitely be returning it. Since this one was a good deal and I will probably mod it at some point I’m probably going to keep it since I can do any fine tuning myself. It could have been great.

Well worth it.
Sounds amazing. Feels amazing as well. I play a Gibson Les Paul, and three Fenders (two strats and a tele)... and this guitar has a place here.

Awesome value
100% Pro instrument. Hard to believe this quality is attainable at such a budget price. Lots of love in the finish and it came perfectly set up out of the box. This guitar is more geared for rock / metal. Pickups are pretty hot and dark for single coils. You can clean it up to get some twang and spank, but to be clear, it does not sound like a traditional tele with the included pickups. Hardware is top-notch. If I had one gripe, would be the audio taper on the pots. No complaints though, this value for the money is unbelievable. I didn't even know the neck and body top were bound! It's gorgeous . Also has a belly cut and arm angle like a strat which is extremely comfortable. It's super lightweight but sustains like a mother. Acoustically this guitar is louder than any other electric I've ever played. Very impressed all the way around.
