The Villain
S**S
Entertaining WIley Coyote / Roadrunner remake with big name movie actors.
If you liked the Wiley Coyote film strips from Saturday morning cartoons, you will like this movie. There are several BIG NAME movie actors (I really can't imagine what the producers must have done to be able to acquire such talent). The three main characters, all big name and well known, are shown on the cover. The story line is reasonable weak western style, but there are many of the classic Wiley Coyote and ACME schticks that are primary parts of the movie. The actors have been animated into doing some of the WIley Coyote style of movements and incidents. It is a "watched one time" movie, with a near silly story line. You have to be a committed Wiley Coyote/Road Runner fan to really appreciate this move.

My mother loves this movie.
It is a funny movie. It is basically a live action cartoon with cartoon physics and all. Cute would be a fitting description.

Looney Toons!
Remembered it as being funnier when it first came out but still well worth a watch with it's innuendo's and obvious Looney Toon'ish pratfalls! probably 3 1/2 Stars now but still well worth a watch π

The Villain
The Villain is one of those films you're either going to love or hate. The career of Kirk Douglas was winding down though it wasn't, by any means, over. The Villain was a HUGE change of pace for him. And I'm one of those people who loves to see an actor do a change up. Douglas wasn't known for comedy, though he had done one early in his career, but he was good at it. Douglas, himself, said he had made a career out of playing s.o.b.'s but this was different. Directed by actor-to-stunt-man-to-director Hal Needham who knew how to do this sort of thing. Needham became a hot commodity for a few years after he became a director & was known best for directing some of Burt Reynolds comedies. The Villain can best be described as a Roadrunner/Wile E. Coyote cartoon that's been turned into a live-action western parody. It has most of the comical routines from those cartoons: Jumping from a cliff ledge but missing the target; swinging down on a rope only to ricochet against a cliff; painting a tunnel on the side of a mountain; & pouring glue that only he gets stuck in. Kirk Douglas is a riot in his portrayal of Cactus Jack Slade. The only thing funnier is his horse, Whiskey, that steals almost every scene that he's in.The supporting cast is excellent &, in most cases, are well known. Ann-Margaret is the constantly in heat female, Charming Jones; Arnold Schwarzenegger is the incredibly straight but stupid, Handsome Stranger; Paul Lynde as Nervous Elk; Foster Brooks as the drunk bank clerk; Ruth Buzzi; Jack Elam as Avery Simpson, the dishonest banker; Strother Martin as Parody Jones; & Mel Tillis as the stuttering telegrapher. The final scene is near classic. Charming kisses Cactus Jack which sends him on a jumping binge from place to place very similar to a Daffy Duck scene. It's all in good fun & funny too.

Douglas, Margaret and Ahnuld make a terrific screen trio!
Kirk Douglas, Ann Margaret and Arnold Schwarzenegger star in the zaniest western you will ever see. Douglas plays Slade, a stereotypical villain who is doing everything he can to keep Ann Margaret from returning to her father's ranch with a chestful of money (with the assistance of the strong, helpful and naive Handsome Stranger; played hilariously by Ahnuld). Wile E. Coyote levels of hijinks ensue as The Villain struggles to foil Handsome Stranger. The best, funniest western you never knew you always needed to watch!

WHAT HAPPENED TO MY 4th COPY?
An excellent item, but, buying for friends, I purchased 4 copies. Sadly only 3 copies arrived. And Amazon's systems don't seem to allow you to query this. When they say they delivered, but only partly delivered, you're up the creek!!

Westerns gone roadrunner,,,!!!
Here are major stars doing Hal Needham comedy, Kirk Douglas (!!) is the totally useless bad guy ( think whyly coyotye ) ,good grief , Arnold Sw ( Cal Gov ) is " Handsome Stranger " No really , that's his name. Ann Margret plays thefemale cleavage ( gowns by Bob Mack ) . Total burlesque!~!!! Stunts aplenty!!! Westerns played for laughs -not quite " Blazing Saddles " but close, and well worth a look. !!!!! Rating 5 !'s

A fun surprise
My husband and I watched The Villian the other day out of curiousity and we were pleasantly surprised with how much fun it was. There were plenty of laughs and then it kind of just ended. I love the whole idea of Arnold as Handsome Stranger, Paul Lynde as the Indian chief and Ann Margaret as the super sexy, beautifully dressed, hot to trot young woman. If only Mel Brooks would've had a chance to co-write this movie, it could have been a classic like Blazing Saddles. It just didn't have enough funny stuff, it was short on story and it didn't have an ending. I thought it was still worth watching and a lot of fun.
