Pleasure Audio CD – Abridged, March 5, 2013

When I say re-read, I'm referring to coming back to read a Dickey novel after an almost 20 year hiatus. Since my year 2000 days of being a flight attendant and reading all through my layovers. I'm a die hard romantic and much prefer this genre, so thank you for bringing one back for the pleasure seeking women. This was phenomenol. And great island references for those of us of small island caribbean descent.

I wish I could have given this man his flowers while he was still here. In Pleasure, Nia Simone explores her sexuality uninhibited and liberated from a relationship she once had with a man who failed to please her. I commend Dickey for this journey he took through the lens of a woman. Nuances plague Nia because we live in patriarchal world that denies women the freedom to explore themselves sexually without conditions. This is erotica. Very poetic and colorful. Very well written, per usual. If you are seeking a book with a heavy plot—a book that tells a story of two lovers who live happily ever after this is not for you. Move along.

This was an excellent read and I would recommend to all. I truly wish the ending was different. I must find book 2

I have been a fan of Dickey's for a quite awhile but hadn't followed his most recent publications. I bought this book on a whim to see where he has been heading. Whoa, very nice read with a unique point of view from Dickey. The narrative is from the main's character point of view and provides a nice pace as well as insights to what I would normally consider a "sexual fiction" plot. It may be unfair to call the plot implausible but I found if I took it as a like a science fiction approach, in other words suspend belief and immerse yourself in the character and you'll be OK. This is not a children's novel and some of the subject matter may be disturbing to those used to Dickey's more subtle handling of sexuality in previous novels. I actually found it fun and a quick read. (I think the lady sitting next to me on the plane enjoyed it as much as I did. It certainly led to an interesting discussion.) So as the author suggests "all events were made up and came from my mind", keep it in the back of your mind that this would never really happen in real life and you'll enjoy. Engage Warp speed.

This story was provocative, sensual, romantic in ways. I loved every minute of it!!! This was a story of a young woman coming into her grown woman sexuality and she owned it in the end!!!! You must read!!

Let me just say that I just started to read EJD, it only took one book and I was hooked to his style. His eloquent style and eclectic vocabulary makes me ponder on many exciting thoughts and feelings. I was actually able to learn a great deal about myself and was able to explore a new level of ideology that has allowed me to accept all of me...every inch of me. In conclusion Pleasure was a delectable sequel that left you yearning for more. Keep it up EJD...I LOVE IT!!!

I found Pleasure to be an interesting book to say the least. I found the beginning to be a bit boring, but once I got into the book it was entertaining. As I've said many times before, I love EJD's writing style, so that is what kept me so interested. The book had alot of steamy sex scenes which I really liked up until a certain point. Afterwards, it got a bit redundant. And IMO, the Kiki Sunshine character was too much. At that point forward, the sex was overkill.The book's ending was also quite blah. The book had no real meaning, no depth, no real substance, and to be honest, I expected more. I wanted Nia to come to some sort of realization within herself and her life. This was probably my least favorite EJD novel, but I am still a loyal fan and will be reading future works of his.

I absolutely love this book. I usually keep it at my bedside. After reading through it, I decided my man needed to be exposed to some PLEASURE and decided to read it to him......very slowly. We never make it through more than 3 chapters before having to XOXOXO . We've read on picnics, long drives and whenever we both have time. It was stimulating the first time.....but it's even better with him!

EJD pens a very good story. Different scenarios with different characters running all at the same time - keeps you gripped. Very prompt delivery. Item as advertised. Very good condition. Would recommend seller.

Eric Jerome Dickey books are the absolute best. I'm not giving away the story!

I've read alot of books in my time and this book cannot get knocked from the top spot.....I recommend it 1000%I love EJD as an author his imagination is raw.

EJD has a way of writing that is mature, subtle, elegant and sensual. my only criticism is the pace was a bit slow in places. however, its scenes are simply wonderful
