This book is very insightful and tasks you with thinking about how this is applied to today and how things like this are represented even in modern times.

This is such a strong story that helps readers get insight into different African traditions. Such a powerful and sad story.

I'd read this book maybe in my 10th grade. But I wanted to own it so I can reread it whenever I want. It is a great story about superstitions and what happens when one goes against such beliefs. It also depicts a beautiful love story. I loved it.

This is engrossing but sad story that reflects the conflicts and contradictions between modern science and traditional beliefs. Sadly, in many parts of the world there are still arranged marriages and required bride prices. I wish the author had taken a different path.

I loved the sad ending which some made the story more believable! Can not wait to read her other books!

Great read would like to see more bride price stories

This was a book for class, it was ok but not really my style. If your interest is african style writing then you will like this book.

Ordered for my son for his summer reading prior to 11th grade

This delicate narrative takes you inside tribal life and leaves you thinking long after the book is finished
