The Essential Rilke

"The Essential Rilke" is listed as a 176 page book. The cheap paperback copy I received contained only 126 pages, however the table of contents supported full 176 page volume. There was no sign that the paperback was ever bound with the missing pages. Amazon needs to check their inventory.

I bought this simply for the touching "Requiem for a Friend" that alone justifies the purchase. There are a host of other poems contained therein. I had been looking for sometime for this edition so was chuffed to find it here and had it delivered within couple of days. A book worth having in the collection.

An accurate but uninspired translation. Having the German side by side was helpful but tended to show how hard it is to translate well

Didn't really deliver for me. I was not engaged by these poems and felt emotionally unimpressed.
