A must read
Compressed version of the full report. Well documented conclusion that climate crisis is man made and contributing to significant consequences to the quality of life for everything living.

Land use changes, renewable energy, and regional plans. Good detail but a flawed national strategy.
Good summary of the impacts and mitigation plans. Every region has new problems, from water and drought, to storms, and to heatwaves. Various mid-level efforts like perennial cover crops are discussed for the Midwest. Renewable energy is emphasized but nuclear energy only gets brief mention (p. 52). If every state were to establish a fully regulated utility and then build nuclear reactors, like in France, significant progress would be achieved. Without nuclear energy, a "Climate stabilization wedge" or major energy strategy, (see Wikipedia entry and article by Princeton Prof. Socolow and Prof. Pacala), CO2 emissions and land use challenges will not be resolved. Thus, while most towns and cities can improve resilience, the global prospects continue to be the same.

Kudos to Melville House
The Trump Administration tried to hide this crucial report on climate change by releasing it the day after Thanksgiving. Melville House has published it an affordable, clear edition. It's not the most exciting reading in the world, but the information contained is crucial to us making decisions about our environmental policies. As time goes on, and the more alarmist scenarios are turning out to seem more probable, this is an important debate we should be having, and Melville House has done a public service by making an unbiased government report available to public. This is what publishing should be about.

Good full color, summary of state of affairs
Excellent summary, though front and back matter is most useful. The main interior sections I think are more speculation as to how each region might be affected.

Read The Actual Science
The National Climate Assessment is the compilation and analysis of the latest cutting edge science on climate crisis and risks posed to the public. Staying abreast of this crucial information is 101 for responsible citizenry and civics. We must be informed if we are to support the best policies and leaders to confront this dangerous crisis.
