This works very well. I use this and the fall lawn treatment and some weed killer that attaches to a garden hose for periodic lawn treatment. For less than $100.00 per year my lawn (approx. 1/5 acre) is virtually weed free and nice and green. People compliment my lawn. I would suggest using this with the Scotts spreader so you will know the precise setting to use.Let me also mention: I use dishwashing gloves when putting this in the spreader, to break up clumps, etc. You should not have this touch your skin. Also, this will not prevent crabgrass or other weeds all season long. The effect lasts approximately 3 months. I usually apply it right after St. Patrick's Day, or a week later. That is what I understand to be optimal. Later in the season I use weed killer in a container that attaches to a hose for application. That will kill the weeds after this has worn off.

I'm in Southern California. I use this twice a year. Early Spring then again in Fall. Works really well for my lawn. I see the price went up $10 since I ordered it last at $29.97. Geeze!! It it remains at nearly $40, I may have to try something else next time. For my small lawn area one bag is good for two times.

Scott's costs a little bit more, but is definately worth the extra cost over the local big box store or off brands. Smaller granuals give a more uniform coverage and their ingredients are top notch.

I always get compliments on my yard after I use Scott's. Worth the extra money.

This is a great product. I live in a rural area and crabgrass is everywhere. Provided I put this down early, before say 55-60 degree days it works great. If you wait too long, 65-70 degree days, it is less effective in my opinion. After the early spring application I usually follow-up with Ortho liquid crabgrass control on a spot treatment basis. The liquid treatments start in July.
