9ft Lime Green Neon Glowing Electroluminescent Wire (El Wire)

Sewed this onto a hydration pack to light myself up at night at music festivals. Works great, batteries last for a good long while, durable, bright, somewhat water resistant(has rained on it and had water splash while filling up hydration pack). Had for almost three years and its still going strong(while handling abuse). There is a whine noise that comes from the pack when it is on which isnt a problem unless you had this right next to your head.

The wire itself is very durable. The battery case is not. I broke the little clip that is on the outside off with in a day of having it but it isn't necessary for using on a stationary object like a Christmas tree like we are. All that isn't what bothers me. What bothers me is the high pitched electronic whistle. I have some older EL wires (with AC adapters too) and their electronic whistle isn't even a fraction as loud as this one. In quiet situations it is ear piercing. I can see if you are using at a rave or part of a dance costume you wouldn't care but if you are with in 10ft of it with music at normal levels so you can talk to you family the electronic whistle will pierce through all and annoy you to death. So I decided to use it on some outside decorations where I couldn't hear it. It is still very impressive at night and neighbors ask about it all the time.

I ordered this for my 9 yr old son when all the glowman costumes we had seen online were sold out. He used this to create his own "lightman" costume and wore it to an outdoor Halloween party at night. It was fantastic. He put the controller box in his pocket, but the controller comes with a super convenient clip on the back. Also the controller can switch the light from on to a slow strobe to a fast strobe and off again. The wire is very thin and looked a little disappointing when we first opened the package, but once it's on it is a super bright neon green color. I should have ordered more than one. My 12 year old son loved it also. I ordered this with next day shipping and it arrived within 24 hours. I could not have been happier

I purchased 3 of these, green , red, blue, the green is nice ,when it works. seems there is a short in the control box some where and I have to twist and turn the wires going into the box to get it to work sometimes. other than that the green is fine. The red is not red, it is PINK which i really dont care about as I got these to wrap my bike in the most outlandish crazy way possible. The blue has not come in yet so i cant really say anything about that. Would be 4 stars if the green was 100% good all the time, and the red was actually red. Other than that no complaints. the price is right. I am thinking about ordering more if i can find a place to mount all the control boxes to make the bicycle even nutty'er.Update: The problem was not a loose wire... It ended up being a bad battery fresh out of the pack. So I have changed it to five stars.

I agree that this wire is very cool. I purchased the green wire, and it was very bright green. I assumed from the description and other reviews that this product is durable. It is not, it is kind of fragile. I used it for a lamp but then changed my mind on the design and removed the wire. Everywhere the wire was bent the light no longer works. I'm sure it wasn't designed for a lot of applications it gets used, but I didn't expect it to lose it's color that easily. That doesn't mean I won't be ordering more, I will just probably get it in bulk so I have some to play with. Oh, the whining from the battery pack that people comment about was so minimal that I could barely hear it.

So I bout them and was super excited they worked for about 2 days, and then one of the wires that attaches to the battery box broke. Yes it does make a humming sound but it was as loud or annoying as some people described. WHEN the lights worked they were bright which was good. But im extremely pissed off at the fact that it broke. And it seeme as if u had to hold the wire at a certain angle to wen make the lights work. This is crap and I want my money back.

This product worked right out of the box. It shipped and was received promptly. I've purchased EL wire before. It's really cool. My previous purchase took weeks before it arrived and was 3 times the cost.There is a high pitched noise, but that seems consistent across the board with EL wire. Just think of a neon sign hum. The noise comes from the power supply, so if you place it in your pocket, perhaps only the dogs will hear. Not a bad thing for Halloween.The price is great! I would purchase again.

I am a photographer and plan on using this item in some artistic shots with scenery and models. This EL wire seems to be more than sufficient for my needs.The light it gives off if quite bright. The control is operated by an incredibly easy to use on/off button with three functions - on, pulsating and off.The only minor drawbacks I've noticed thus far is that while in operation, the unit makes a slight humming sound and the actual wire is a little thinner and potentially more fragile than expected.All in all, when considering the price and value, I'd say this product is a probably good option for most people.
