Brilliant for my purposes (probably NOT for a seagoing vessel)
Really like the fit and finish. I used these as braces for van-roof-mounted solar panels that allow the panel to tilt to maximize solar exposure. They are put together with rivets that don't seem very hardy (so I won't be using them on a sailboat), but for this application, where they won't have any hard knocks to withstand, other than a little land breeze while parked - they're just perfect. And they look great!

solid and sturdy
had trouble finding front hatch arms for my bayliner ciera,the plastic original ones failed and I couldn't find the replacement struts anywhere,searched for weeks,so I rolled the dice and ordered these brkts and made minor 10 min modifications and they have never let me down,still solid and sturdy,the hatch stays where you put it....

Don’t count on this stopping on it’s own!
I bought this product to use on a horizontal boat hatch lid that flops back to open. The lid has no “stay” on it’s own, so when you open it past the vertical it falls all the way back and hits the deck hard. I figured this product would solve that. I installed it and the FIRST time I had the boat on the water the “stop” failed and the lid slammed the deck. The little bent-in dimple meant to stop the stay is not strong enough! The manufacturer could EASILY solve this by spot-welding a small bar on the back-side of the female bar, thus preventing it from going past the knob on the male bar. The knob works fine when tightened down, but don’t count on this stay stopping itself!

Easy To Use and Adjust!
This lid stay is a lot more effective that my original one. I also like the fact that the mounting brackets can be bent (carefully) to compensate for mounting it to areas that are no square to each other. I do wish that some type of instructions would have been included showing mounting options. While I did not have a problem...it is possible that some folks may have to work at getting the angle and spacing set correctly before driling the mounting holes.So far, the unit has held up well and I am very pleased.
