This is large format printout binder. I bought it to store my large format, think larger than legal size, printouts. I also used one for architectural drawings (not the full size ones but medium sized). They're very sturdy. Ment to hold a lot of pages so if you're going to use one for less than 50pgs you may have problems.

Theses are great for 11x17 prints one would carry in a construction field. They are hard to find in a local office supply store. If you work from your truck these are perfect. I’ve tried nicer rigged folders but they are more difficult to keep in a truck office.

I use page protectors with most of my documents which means the pages would normally stick out beyond the cover.To accommodate for the extra width needed by the page protectors, I unfolded the margin used to cover the hinge binding hardware. The hardware is visible, but the extra length it bought allows the rigid over to protect the pages. I can use a bit of colored cardstock to make a cover for the spine if I decide it's not aestheticaly pleasing enough, but it's functional just as it is protecting my drafts.
