The side port has two holes, approximately 5mm, that the water is diverted through. These holes probably do restrict the flow through the side port somewhat but not noticeably so in my shower (I don't have that much flow to begin with). The construction of the valve is such that you can't see through it (even in the forward direction) and so water flows around the diverter mechanism for either port; which again, presents some restriction but I don't have any means of quantifying how much. Subjectively, it seems like I'm getting full flow to my shower head. **Q: Can I install this closer to the wall and add extender rod to one of the valves or would I need an extra connector?** A: The end with the hex is a compression joint.It won't install into a standard pipe in the wall. I had a straight nipple coming out of the wall that accepts this. The end opposite the lever accepted a hose for hand held and the 3rd end requires a nipple with internal threads to match up to a shower arm like a standard bent arm common in most setups or as I have installed a straight 12" with a 90 deg bend for a rain shower setup **Q: What size cap would I need if I decide to shut one of the outputs?** A: I don't know anything about caps but I can tell you that what fits on these openings are standard shower heads and handheld shower hoses so that when you install this you are turning the pipe coming from your wall into two pipes that are the same size. If you decide not to use one you need only keep the lever turned to the other one an that's where 100% of the water would flow. There is also the option of removing the diverter if you want to go back to having a single pipe. **Q: At times I use a single shower head but sometimes also need to run two shower heads, what should I buy** A: It is just one at a time ,and not a shut off valve. Water will pass to either shower head to the degree you placed the valve. Only ding is wish it were a 90 degree valve instead of 180 degree valve, but that is minor. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy installation and smooth valve action *by M***E on November 19, 2023* I got this to replace an existing diverter (from another maker) that was a push/pull style that was difficult to use. This one was easy to install and they give you plenty of thread tape and washers to do get it done with no leaks. It feels like a high quality, solid device like you'd expect for normal plumbing use. The valve operates very smooth and easily and you can go from wand only, shower head only and everywhere in between. There is an arrow indicating rotation direction on the side so anyone should be able to figure out how it works.
