Was great book for money

So far, I have only made a couple of lambs as gifts, but I can tell you, this will really help you to understand flat plane carving and stepping through the process you will really have a nice carving...even for a novice.

Very well written for the beginner. I own many wood carving books. And upon flipping through this, I am impressed with each chapter is a figure to carve in full. Usually a couple are given, then outlines for the rest.

good book, like this one

As a new carver, I found this book to be very thorough with detailed pictures and instructions. Mary was the first piece described and each subsequent piece builds on the skills learned from the first. Highly recommended and a great introduction to flat plane carving. I would recommend Harley Refsal's books as follow-ons should you enjoy the flat plane style.

this is a very simple style, my husband has made 7 of the pieces. we like it very much. altho it doesn't show it painted, I have painted it using acrilic hobby paints.

Good book for a beginner or young carver. Interesting designs and well put together. Same techniques used on several pieces make it easy to follow.

Although this is probably aimed at beginners the results are quite impressive. More experienced carvers can add their own touches. Instructions are quite basic but they are easy to follow and results are good. I am making them slightly smaller but adjusting measurements to match.

I’m a beginner carver and was intrigued by the flat plane style. This book is quite detailed with many excellent photos stepping you through the whole process of carving the figures. Some of the finished photos show details that are not mentioned in book but they’re minor and simple to add if you wanted.I’d recommend this book to any carver interested in the flat plane style 😁

Maria viene muy bien explicada, paso a paso. Jose algo peor con partes referenciando a Maria. El pastor viene con referencias a Jose, Melchor con referencias al pastor ...Baltasar practicamente no se puede seguir, con referencias a pasos de todas las figuras previas
