The wyrm that turned...
I was 16 when I first read this & it has stayed with me ever since. I feel it was a fresh look at the eternal struggle between Good & Evil. This was only his second published book and showed a rare and inventive talent within the horror genre.

The Wyrm
A sleepy Northumbrian town, a horror writer who is scared to write, a crazy old man, a gibbet at a crossroads. Laws weaves an intriguing story around these things and creates a gripping, tense read of a book. Is Frank Warwick crazy? Why is he so insistant that the gibbet remains in its position at the crossroads? Michael Lambton, the writer, feels some kind of evil lurks in the past of Shillingham, but even he cannot be prepared for events to come. Read it - your flesh will creep, your blood run cold.

Memorable writing!
I read this book when I was 14 and it has stayed with me through the years - one of the best horror novels I have read. The descrption is so graphic it feels like you are watching a movie. May seem outdated today but a thoroghly enjoyable read, hard to put down and a fast faced story line!
