GlidecamXR-1000 hand-held camera stabilizer for cameras 0.5-3.0 lbs

The media could not be loaded.  I have rented an hd4000, an hd2000 and a xr2000 in the past. this was my first Glidecam purchase. it really is a fantastic. for this price (144$ right now) there is no point buying a knock off. there may be some good ones, but the ones I have owned (two IMORDEN Carbon S-40c Handheld Camera Stabilizer for Gopro, Canon, Sony, Panasonic Dslr Camera(0.5~3lbs) with 50mm-Quick Release  are not worth the compromise for the small price difference. it is hard to balance without fine adjustment knobs, but it is doable. it took me around 15min to balance it with a 3 second (real "one thousand one, one thousand two..." seconds). one good trick is you can use some small (~10g) neodymium magnets on the top and bottom of the camera plate. you can slide them around tiny amounts to fine tune the balance.if you can afford it, get a HD-1000, it has fine adjustment knobs. see if there are any used demos available from glidecam, they are selling them right now for 299$. if you cannot afford it, get this. don't waste your time with other brands unless you know they are of high quality.the video is one of the first tests I did with this unit. I plan on possibly modifying the unit with some macro geared focusing rails. I will update the review if I do.

This product works very well. It definitely helped to stabilize footage taken while walking. However, it takes a very long time to balance. I thought i could do it in a few hours despite other reviews. I was wrong. If you buy this patience and practice will be necessary.

Too difficult to balance. Might be better with a different camera perhaps as mine is fairly light. Was hoping it would work better for me so I could use it more often but it collects dust mostly because I'm too lazy to use it most of the time.

I bought this thinking I could use it with my DSLR but its truly made for smaller camcorders. If you have a DSLR then get the 2000. Other than that, great product.

This thing was awful, If you want a glidecam, spend the extra money to get the HD series. This XR series was total crap...Basically impossible to balance due to the design of the bottom weighted plate, it will rotate if you bump it and throw off your entire rig with NO way to tighten it. The top plate was also very counter intuitive.

This is my first Glidecam, so it of course takes tons of practice to master it. I am still far from being a master at it, but every time I take it out and use it I see improvement. This product is sturdy and great.

a jumpy camera makes me sick so this stabilizer is perfect to allow my videos to look so much better for my you tube channel Arizona hot homestead.

Das Ausbalancieren des Modells XR-1000 bringt einen an den Rand des Nervenzusammenbruchs. Vor allem, weil das Justieren des Kopfes keine Feineinstellung zulässt - ganz besonders in der Querrichtung. Die Justierschlitze sind derartig großzügig bemessen, dass die Trägerplatte während der Schiebens nach links oder rechts auch diagonal hin und her wandert. Es gibt keine Möglichkeit, dies zu unterbinden. Die Justierschlitze für die Längsrichtung sind zwar genau so großzügig bemessen, hier aber hilft wenigstens die Schwerkraft. Glidecam hat inzwischen wesentlich bessere Modelle auf dem Markt – das neueste hat Schrauben zum Feinjustieren des Kopfes, außerdem kann auch der Gimbal hoch und runter verstellt werden. Ein solches Modell kostet allerdings an die 1000 Euro, was ich als jenseits von gut und böse empfinde. Das hier besprochene Modell XR-1000 hat in meinem persönlichen Vergleich mit dem 60-cm-Modell von Tarion deutlich schlechter abgeschnitten. Weil das Tarion-Modell einen Kopf hat, der wesentlich feiner tariert werden kann und in der Längsrichtung eine Scala hat, so dass man sich gut orientieren kann. Außerdem hat Tarion nur 2 Justier-Schrauben, während am XR-100 gleich 8 zu bedienen sind! Völlig absurd.
