A must read for parents and coaches of cross-country runners
a must read for parents and coaches of cross-country runners, gives the basics on training based on experience levels and age. It also talks about normal growth and development and how to avoid injuries, good stretches to warm up with, problems experienced by young runners, good nutrition, the mental aspects of running, and many other subjects for a thorough review

Great book for the high school runner
Excellent book for the young runner and their parents. Complete information on training and nutrition. Especially like the chapter on the mental approach to running. The information on weight training is a bit elementary and lacking, but you can find that information online. Overall there isn't a better book for the high school runner.

Only half way through this book and have already learned so much! Excited to apply what I’ve learned while coaching our middle school XC team.

Tons of helpful info.
Got book for my granddaughter (13). Read it thoroughly. I last ran cc in 1964 - nothing like this was available. Fantastic!! I since bought a copy for her cc coach & myself. Coach loves it!

Great introductory book on coaching young and developing distance runners
I highly recommend this book which I came across just by searching around. Easy to ready, good advice from different coaches and gives a good overview of how to approach coaching young distance runners, what to look out for, how to start constructing training programmes etc. I am a very experience performance 800m runner and still learnt quite a lot.
