Long read print is tiny. But story is amazing!"
Make sure you have lighting and your reader glasses because this font is so tiny. So the story is much longer than the book size looks. However, this becomes a riveting story of endurance and unmoveable faith. I would reccomend this. It even grew my own faith.

Unexpected Opportunities
In his second epistle to Timothy, the apostle Paul wrote of the "gospel, for which I suffer hardship even to imprisonment as a criminal; but the word of God is not imprisoned." This is notably similar to the circumstances Maryam and Marziyeh describe as they experienced a prolonged stay in the Vozara detention center: "Most amazing of all, we were in the best place we'd ever been for witnessing to people hungry for the gospel of Jesus. We had spent ourselves and our resources traveling all over the country with the message of salvation, always mindful of the danger if the wrong person overheard us. Now we were stuck in jail, and God was bringing spiritual seekers to us in waves...we could tell our fellow prisoners the story of Jesus openly because no one would come into this rat hole to spy on us." The boldness of their witness, the sensitivity of their hearts to the circumstances of countless persecuted women, and the willingness to scrub and clean the filthy living areas are strong evidence of the love for Christ these two women have. They boldly witnessed to interrogators, police, guards, hardened and hopeless cell mates, even prison officials of their devotion to their Savior, Jesus Christ. I have had the privilege to hear the two of them speak in person on two occasions, so with every page, I saw their beautiful faces, finding it hard to imagine the despicable conditions of Evin Prison. Nevertheless, Maryam and Marziyeh encourage, pray for, and comfort their fellow prisoners. This is a story of unmistakable courage and determination to stand firm in their belief in Jesus, no matter the cost. Even one of the guards remarked, "You two are not like the other prisoners...you're too good to be here. It's a shame for innocent people like you to be locked up." So many other women were also "innocent people" held captive by the harsh and capricious regime in Iran. Little did they know that Maryam and Marziyeh would become their friends and advocates. I highly recommend this book; frankly, I could not put it down. It gave me a wake-up call to recognize my freedom and seize my opportunities to share the love of Jesus with boldness as they do.

Strength and Faith Under The Threat of Death
I am a Christian and live my life to please God - but so far in the USA we're still relatively able to do this without too many restrictions although the persecution of believers in rising. Marcia and Mariam (their English names) live in Tehran and although it is not against their law currently to believe in Jesus Christ, it is to spread the faith to Muslims under the tyrannical government that is controlled by religious extremists. Consequently this compelling page-turner follows these committed followers of Jesus inside Evin Prison, Iran's most grotesque and violent prison. For nine long months these women are subject to conditions that nightmares are made of. They befriend the majority of the women prisoners with kindness, concern, prayers when asked (which was a lot) and a witness for Jesus that was communicated in so many ways. Their prison became a church actually furthering their original mission. As an American woman and a Christian, peering into the lives of regular folks in Tehran and how the lack of consistency and justice that we have become so casual with here in the USA brings a sense of gratitude for where I live and increased understanding for the sadness of those caught in such tyranny. Their justice system is shockingly corrupt. Marcia and Miriam faced this danger every day and constantly rose above in the strength of the God they know and love. They know what it means to love Him with all their heart, mind and strength - more than life itself - and to trust God under circumstances many of us will never know.I highly recommend the book. It is fast-moving and amazingly interesting, filled with culture, customs, hopes and dreams.

A Reunion again someday
I would recommend this book to anyone who has ever wondered, 'where is God in all this?'. That should include everyone. To see God move so powerfully in Maryam and Marziyeh's life throughout their ordeal and yet at times they too wondered 'where is God?'. It helps to know that no matter how much faith we have, everything is under God's ultimate timing and control. "A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world" John 16:21 NIV. When Jesus returns for HIS own, those in Christ will I believe, have a similar joy! I pray that these courageous ladies will one day see their friends from Evin Prison again - and most especially Shirin!

Captive in Iran
This book is the moving story of two young ladies who become Christians and set about sharing their faith with others in Tehran. They were arrested and spent nearly nine months in the notorious Evin jail, but used the time to bring comfort, friendship and fresh hope to their fellow prisoners. They were eventually released and are now living abroad. Their story is told in a personal and very effective way.

Could Not Put it Down
I could not put this book down. I am not a Christian myself, but this true story of two young Christian women who ended up in prison in Iran for their Christian beliefs is so inspiring. Parts are shocking, others even funny. Very well written. I bought two copies for Christian friends, and they were so happy and also could not put them down. I learned so much for what goes on in that society, how incredibly bad women are being treated.

A very moving story
This is indeed a remarkable story, of two young women imprisoned in Iran because of their Christian faith. It is well written, especially taking account of language and cultural differences. The stories are very moving, both their own and those of other prisoners, and shows what God can do through ordinary people who trust in Him. I hope it will have a wide circulation. If there should be a second edition it would be interesting to know something of their parents, whether they were able to leave Iran freely, and how they coped financially when they were released as they don't mention working.

Must be read!
This is an extraordinary story of 2 ordinary women imprisoned for 8 months without trial or charge except that they are Christians in a Muslim state. They describe terrible prison conditions and women being brutally treated and even executed without trial. In spite of their own experience of injustice, they bring light and hope to many who have lost everything, even their self-respect. This book is an education and an inspiration to anyone who values Truth and Justice.

Awesome Book!
This is a book that once you start reading you cannot put it down! It is written from the viewpoint of two women who were imprisoned in Iran for their faith in Jesus. It is written in a very simple, straightforward manner which makes it so easy to read. It gives a little insight into the problems facing all women under such despotic regimes as presently in power in Islamic countries such as Iran. Reading this you get a little picture of how women in such countries are treated in such awful, inhumane ways.
