Great scanner, wonderful seller
So pleased with our Canon DM 140 ii scanner. Purchased from NorthStar Business Products. Brad answered our questions promptly and even contacted Canon with a question about software compatibility on our system. If you need scanners , NorthStar Business Products is your company. I've never dealt with anyone on Amazon who exhibited such interest in making sure the customer was happy and able to use the product to the fullest. I would give 10 stars to NorthStar if I could.

Works great !
At first ... it was a real pain to use. The scanner driver constantly stopped working. It would even cause Adobe Acrobat to die when creating a PDF from the scanner. Very frustrating and almost unusable. We have a few of the previous model and it never had any of these problems.BUT ... Canon released new Windows drivers for it. And the updates fixed everything !It's now our preferred scanner. Fast and easy to use.I strongly suggest that you download the latest drivers from Canon before even trying out this scanner. The drivers on the CD that ships with the scanner are buggy.

Excellent scanner, albeit a little expensive
I'm impressed with this scanner. It's so tiny, but works like the big boys. I do wish it had slightly larger input/output trays, but other than that it's awesome. The software is a tad buggy. The CaptureOnTouch software has a bug where you choose job #1 on the scanner and hit start, and it doesn't choose job #1, and therefore job #1 in the software us useless unless you specifically choose job #1 in the software. #2-9 work exactly how they're supposed to. I've also had it crash on me like 15 different times at all stages. After the scan, during a scan, etc. It's frustrating that it crashes, which means you have to start the scan job over completely. One small wish I have for the software is for it to read barcodes off of ONLY the first page in the batch, in order to determine how to name the file. This would save us a ton of time, as we scan hundreds upon hundreds of pieces of paper every day. The problem is, almost every single piece of paper we scan, also has a barcode on it. We would like the cover sheet of each batch to be able to name the file, for true one-touch scanning and saving.

Ultra fast
This is the fastest portable scanner we use. We take these on the road and scan literally thousands of pages with it. I highly recommend getting the Canon Care Pack for it. We contacted Canon for repair service for one that was purchased in 2012 (turns out it simply needed the rollers replaced, which can be changed by the user). Canon does not repair these. They simply provide an exchange for out of warranty units. In my opinion, that's better than sending it in for repair and waiting for it to come back. The scanner itself is fast, with clear and sharp images. I can't think of another portable scanner that comes close to matching the speed and clarity of this unit. We've compared it to the Scan Snap and previous versions of the Canon (DR-2580). The included software, if set up properly will scan and orient the pages correctly no matter how they are loaded into the scanner (text orientation recognition). There are other very helpful features as well. Combine this with Acrobat and you have an excellent document capturing system.

Poorest Scanner I have Owned
I have owned a number of scanners, but this one is absolutely the worst. SAVE YOUR MONEY!! The first one I received would not work at all. I did return for a replacement and it only works intermittently. I have contacted Canon Support on numerous occasions and they have not been able to resolve the problem(s). This was a HUGE waste of money, but I will toss it (probably out the windo so it shatters into a million pieces) and purchase an HP scanner.

Not that great
There are really only two virtues of this device. 1. It looks cute with is pastel buttons. 2. It is TWAIN compliant.Other than that, it is not that great. I had a lot of issue in regards to scanning credit card receipts as they would constantly jam in the feed mechanism. You do have the option to open up the back to create a straight throughput, but in my Dilbert-esque cubicle, there is no space towards the rear of the scanner. I am sure that if your receipt were in perfect condition it wouldn't have an issue, but mine have been in my wallet or pocket, and so get a little wrinkled and that ends up jamming in the scanner. There is also a third party software, Kofax, that is used for the scanning. The instructions that I received mandated that I install that first and then the CD that came with the Canon. The instructions on installing the various components is confusing and frustrating as I am no computer expert. The most retarded part is that using the Kofax application nullifies your ability to capture the image using the button on the scanner. But the quality of the scanned images were good, as well as the speed.Overall, if you are scanning mostly 8.5 x 11 paper documents, this scanner should do the job. But this hardly justifies paying a premium on the price. I use a Fujitsu ScanSnap at home and it is far superior in performance to the scanner in regards to ease of use, jam rate, and bundled with Adobe Acrobat.

Multiple pages gets caught and sucked in all at once
I don't think it's worth the price. Multiple pages gets caught and sucked in all at once. I have to help feed it in with a lot of paper.

Great product
Very easy to install and use. Scans both sides VERY quickly. The one touch capture software is very easy to use, you can scan to a .pdf or .tiff and save the file or email it without saving the image.
