The Big Book Of Reiki Symbols: The Spiritual Transition of Symbols and Mantras of the Usui System of Natural Heali Kindle Edition

When I bought this I expected a large book comparing symbols from different lineages, how they changed over time, those closest to Usui's, weird unexpected ones that came out of no place, how they compare to similar symbols from different cultures, etc... This book falls massively short and instead talks about plants, healing crystals, chakras, kundalini, magic, kabbalah, meditation hand positions and just about everything else under the sun instead of the Reiki symbols mentioned in the title and the book description. About as far as it goes into symbols is showing you how to draw each with direction arrows (which almost any Reiki manual does), and breaking apart some individual characters to let you know the different parts. This comprises a few pages worth, maybe 20-30 combined pages (if I'm being generous) of the massive 692 page work. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is it does provide an introduction to a lot of different esoteric systems in one convenient place. If it was billed as that, with a different title and description, it might have gotten 4 or 5 stars from me. Since the title and book description very much misleads, wasted my money, and makes you think you're buying something your not, I only give it 3, and only because of the size of it, ...really considered giving it a 2.

Possibly to your deep chagrin, this book will show you the Buddhist esoteric origins of Reiki. Astounding depth, and details.Everyone who is involved with Reiki should know what it really is and where it came from. Don't be ignorant,read this book. No fluff.

If I had to give the book a grade...it would be a C-. It provides historical text...I was expecting something else.

This book is excellent. The teachings and stories offered are priceless. The author did a good study or research of the subject, but sometimes repeating or offering extended data are not relevant.The meditations offered are very good and very well explained.Each Reiki symbol is very well explained with data that very few can offer. Perhaps the only thing left was the spiritual and psychological meaning of each line of symbols.I recommend this book to my Reiki Master level students. And I use it as a guide or like a bible of Reiki.

Wonderful book if you want to dive deep into the esoteric Buddhist origins of the Reiki symbols and develop a deeper understanding of Reiki in the process. I've been attuned to Reiki for a few years now, and this book is answering a lot of questions that were still in my mind.

This is a well researched book about Reiki symbols, that is a "must have" in your Reiki library, especially if you're interested in the history and traditional elements of the Reiki practice.For those who are interested in learning more Buddhist and Taoist context regarding Reiki practice, it's a mandatory reading. After all, Buddhism, Taoism and Shinto are the ideologies, from which Reiki evolved to some degree. And this book explores these ideas and these sources of Reiki.For those who are not interested in history and sources, it's an interesting book that might expand your knowledge. A lot of information about Buddhism, tradition, symbols, a lot of illustrations and a lot of spiritual knowledge - this is what you can find in this work.It isn't easy to read, because the ideas of mudras, mantras, symbols and traditional rituals are complex, but the overall effect is worth the money and time.

Regret buying this..After reading it, I felt the authors went so far into depth that they got sidetracked from the point of the book...Reiki symbols. They completely avoided discussing the meaning of the first Reiki symbol all together. Giving a history of Buddhism, esoteric Taoism and shamanism from a Japanese perspective is interesting but again misses the point of the actual meaning of the symbols. Same with their discussion of various Buddhist deities which are not related to the Reiki symbols, as well as discussing mudra's and mantra's as well. The content of the book does not match the title and their information regarding Buddhist history appears questionable.

Perfect investment as a lifetime reference guide for everyone on the Reiki Healing journey.

Love this book. Still haven't gotten through it all. There are so many techniques and practices. As an Usui Reiki Master and Teacher, I use this book to help complement my teachings as well as self-practice.

This book is amazing it gives you so much insite to reiki and the knowledge we as westerners have lost over the years .. excellent price xx

I highly recommend this book if you are a bit nerdy and what to bog yourself down with a load of information which you probably will never use. That said, I found parts of the boom to be really interesting. I possibly bought this too soon in mt reiki journey.

left this book on the side for a while, thought it would be a bit of a chore to read... how wrong was I ? THEE best book I have ever read and take it from me I have a lot of Reiki books. First class information, clear and easy to follow. A must for all Reiki practitioners and Masters. This taught me so much and made me re-think quite a few things. 10/10 well worth the money.
