**** UPDATED**** GREAT RADIO. GREAT SERVICE.FIRST... I do think this radio is GREAT! The only reason that I have decided to give it 2 stars is because I purchased it thru Amazon from a company that assured me the warranty was U.S. based. However 7 months after my purchase, the radio stopped working. I contacted Baofeng US (AMCREST SALES) and of course the call was answered by someone who didn't speak or understand english very well. After a few e-mail exchanges and being told that I was entitled to a new replacement radio, I then received an e-mail stating that I had to pay a $15.00 shipping fee. I did so immediately. After 3 days of not hearing anything from the company I called back. They now tell me that I will receive a shipping label by e-mail to ship my non-working radio back & after they receive it, they will ship out the new radio. The male on the phone kept referring to it as a "camera" and I kept reminding him that it was a 2-way radio! Yeah right... some U.S. based warranty???****UPDATE**** Sorry it took a while for me to update this review. My broken radio was returned and within a week I had a new replacement. All is good.

I plan to bring it with me camping to keep up on weather reports and listening at night. FM functionality is nice and it's not hard to change settings but saving channels could be a little more straightforward. So far, I have kept the radio in frequency mode, manually scanning or entering valid frequencies which has worked perfectly fine for me so far. This bundle is nice; the large battery lasted me about 30 hours straight, every piece fits together snugly and feels reasonably solid, the manual comes in several languages and reads easily enough. The included charger takes a while to charge the battery fully, unfortunately, and this package comes with an earpiece which I have not used yet and I don't honestly know if I will. In addition to this package I grabbed a car charger and programming cable so all I need is an extra battery and a better antenna to satisfy my radio needs.

This radio is very handy and affordable. Bought this as a loaner radio for friends without VHF radios to use during off-road/expedition trips. Was pretty impressed with the battery life and ease of operation. However, this radio seemed to pick up a lot of interference randomly that I was not able to get rid of despite troubleshooting. Range seems to be ok. Wish it came with a car-charger accessory, though I can get a good deal of use out of this model with its larger battery. Overall out of the box super user friendly and decent battery life, hard to beat.

Excellent radio at a great price. I have two, and use them both regularly. Very well made. great feel--nice materials. Great battery life. It can stay on standby for days. No issues with dependability. Easy to use. Nice channel selection. Intuitive.Suggest getting a longer high quality antenna. I purchased and recommend the Nagoya NA-771. Also get a programming cable. The programming software (CHIRP) is a free download. With the cable you can easily set up and manage all of your frequencies, and clone the programming to other radios.

I gave this 3 stars, only because for the same price, you can buy the radio and extended battery seperate, and still have the standard battery. This does not include the standard battery.

These radios are very much worth the money. They are easy to program and set up, easy to use and have some excellent features. In testing these radios 3 miles in an urban setting is a piece of cake, reception is clear and clean, with an optional 15" antenna, 5+ miles is easily achieved, again in an urban setting with rolling hills and large buildings over the test course. These came with an extra capacity battery that seems to hold up very well, just listening to the local repeater and noaa weather radio they last for several days. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a solid, dependable handheld radio

Awesome radios. Bought these after reading reviews. Had been using Motorola personal radios on my hunting property and they just weren't cutting it, range was terrible, and battery life didn't meet expectations. These Baofeng radios are crystal clear, battery life is great and have exceeded my expectations.

I've had this radio for more than a year now. Used it extensively, and haven't charged it yet. Tough too, dropped it off the roof, hit an outdoor shower stall and landed on the deck, not a scratch. Actually using it to it's full potential is a bit of a learning curve.
