DIRECT IGNITERPRO Digital Thermostat Controller Compatible with TRAEGERS

I have a Traeger Junior. I had previously updated the control unit from Traeger with a thermostatic controlled model, but it failed a year or two ago. I saw this unit for easily half the price of the OEM unit, plus with the two additional temperature probes it was a slam dunk.Unit arrived early and well packaged. The installation instructions are slim -- there's just a wiring diagram and wire color codes. But, I was happy to discover that the Direct Igniter wires not only fit directly onto the same fittings, but the wire colors are the same as well. In other words, swap out orange & white wire bundle, with the Direct Igniter Orange and White bundle, the black & white with the corresponding black & white, and so forth. Total install time was probably 30 minutes give or take.Once installed it has some great features I missed such as a shut down mode. The temperature controller is very accurate and many times the measured temperature would be within +/- 5 degrees F of desired. There is no "P" setting for the smoke mode. I reached out to Direct Igniter and they emailed back to tell me that the controller uses a "smart technology" instead. Since I never had much luck with the P setting anyway, it's not missed.I've run the unit in smoke mode twice. The first it was very windy and the unit had a hard time maintaining temperature. However, I was VERY happy to find out when I went to check that the unit shut off the auger and displayed an error message when the temperature went too low. Years ago using my Traeger controller the fire went out and the unit continued to feed pellets into the hopper until it was clogged.The next day I used the smoke mode to make some burgers and vegetables when there was a little less wind and it worked perfectly.This is a great unit. I am very happy with it!

This product fit perfectly and worked. There weren’t any instructions but it was so simple it didn’t need any for me to get it installed

I bought this to replace my traeger panel. Installing it was straightforward. It is a matter of unscrewing the panel and then connecting the electrical wires. Make certain to pay close attention to how the wires are connected before you attach this new panel. I took a picture just in case. However, it should be pretty easy. I unplugged the wires one by one and connecting the new unit. Now my traeger is up and running again. I would buy this again based on the current performance.

I'm not much a fan for writing reviews for things... but I feel that this deserves it here.Though I will say that I was sceptical about this unit, and it's price - while comparable to the newer Traeger controllers, it was half the price. We have an older Traeger 22" Tex Elite that has worked fine since the purchase many years ago..... so I thought, "why the heck not upgrade" and hit the buy button.Once it showed up in the mailbox, it was easy to swap out... in fact, I took more time planning to swap it than it actually changing it out. 30 minutes, it's that easy.Initial test run (some 6 hours of tests) it was good on Smoke and different temp settings, cranked to High was good too - so far, so good. So far, as I can say - it's a good upgrade for this older older pellet grill. And no, there was no need to cut or file anything, this controller fits the Traeger control cutout fine on our unit.A good buy, and pleased with it.

My traeger started acting up and would always turn off, so i called traeger to get a replacement part and you know what?,...... they dont ship parts to Hawaii!?!?!? so they have a sister store so i looked on there and they to do not ship to Hawaii! so i just looked on Amazon and found this, it works like a charm and solved my issues.

Well I bought this a in June of 2021 and have probably used it twice a week until now. I noticed the last 3 months of using it the temp controller couldn't make up its mind, so I just kept an eye on it. Now it heats up and doesn't stop till it hits 500 degrees. Never the less it's shot, and lasted longer than I thought it would for the price.

This controller lets the temperature run wildly above and below the set point. The features of this controller look good and the cooking area probe as well as the two meat probes seem to portray the temperatures accurately, but the ability of the controller to hold a set temp is poorly lacking. My original Traeger controller would let the temperature climb to within a few degrees of the set point then it would allow the temp to drop within a few degrees of 25 degrees below the set point and then bring it back to within a few degrees of the set point again. This would be the cycle. The new controller does seem to be able to keep the smoke going throughout the the cooking cycle, but for my wife and I, we liked being able to leave the Smoke setting and when in the cooking temperatures the mount of smoke would be minimal.This is not the case with this controller. When I leave the Smoke setting and run the temperature up to a 325 degree set point, I would see the temp rise to as high as 62 degrees above the set point and drop to as much as 52 degrees below the set point. During this time the Traeger would be smoking a lot.I was looking forward to using the features of being able to see my cooking temperature as well as the Breast and Leg meat temperatures when I cook our Turkey this year , but with the temp control being so far from what I set the Traeger for, I will need to use our electric oven this year after I smoke the bird for an hour or two.I'll need to look for a Traeger brand if this cannot be resolved soon.

Took 5 minutes to install. Works perfect! Great buy
