GMB 110-1080P High Performance Series Water Pump with Gasket

GMB is a good brand - not like the BS AZ stuff...... Arrived quickly, as described, piece of cake install - just don't be like me and forget to install the factory hardline heater pipe before installing the water pump or you will need to either a] remove the pump and reinstall or b] [what i did] bought a threaded adapter to hose nipple fitting and a longer piece of heater hose .... works like a champ.

First of all, I have an upgraded cooling system in my Jeep XJ. I have the Mishimoto aluminum radiator , and it has been wonderful for cooling the Jeep. I have run this water pump steadily for over 6 months and had repeated issues (even over the winter) of the Jeep slowly overheating after 30+ minutes of travel. It all came to a head when I towed a small trailer and the overflow take was spewing hot coolant after a 30 minute trip. The construction of the water pump is excellent, and really does move water, but after flushing the coolant system and reinstalling, the pump had the same issues. I believe that it doesn’t work well with the upgraded radiator. As soon as I put the stock water pump back in, my cooling issues have subsided. Great feeling product but not intended for use with an upgraded radiator.

I used this as part of a upgrade on the cooling system on a 1988 Jeep Comanche (MJ) with the I-6 4.0L motor. Fit well with no Alignment issues or leaks. It has a better Propeller design. Just a plate welded to the backside of the propellor. I added a Large 3 core aluminum radiator, Thermostat bypass for prewarming the radiator (to help from over cooling No.1 cylinder wall) and even a heater core bypass used for a coolant filter. And yet even at low RPM's the system stays under control in terms of temps. The Flow increases tho i can not test or observe it in action. Using a Laser thermometer. I can not Observe any heat spikes and the Dash gauge does not report any odd temp cycling under 100F+ days or even 32F or lower days. A/C does not even seem to make any difference to the temps anymore. I have been running this pump for over a year now. Happy to report that it is still working and no complaints. As a low RPM user that i am. (gotta love the low end torque of the 4.0L) Cooling has always been a area i been trying to improve. This pump seems to help and is holding up to low RPM/heavy work loads and even REDLINE merges on to the interstate. All at the same time. And the Price was only a few dollars more then the failure prone Parts warehouses brands.

The product worked as advertised! It does provides an enormous amount of “flow,” which causes all of your gaskets and coolant hoses to leak or rupture! If you decide to use this product, “replace everything before installation!” I finally replaced the pump with a different type and have not incurred any further issues!

Great product, didn't exactly fix my problem of overheating but that was due to my end. Who would have thought that dirty oil was the culprit at 3k miles. Id like to think it was previous neglect to routine maintenance but it's a pretty obvious solution. Anyone planning on replacing water pump and clutch fan, Please! Remember to break the bolts before loosening the serpentine belt, make your life alot easier, also motor medic is a great way to clear up lax maintenance on jeeps. Great product, but just have to remember overheating in jeeps can come from multiple culprits.

Pretty much as described. My water pump wasn't bad a just put this one in as a precaution. Works good, no issues yet. I'll update if anything happens. It's in a 90 xj 4.0 right now

This water pump seems to be of great quality, I noticed a great improvement over the stock water pump on 95 jeep Cherokee ! *****EDIT 5/4/2015***** I purchased a second water pump for my other Cherokee and after two days I had coolant leaking from the weep hole, I'm guessing improperly installed or defective seal caused this from the factory, my other water pump I bought is still kicking strong but this one leaks....hard to review this one....I have one good one and one bad one....so beware I suppose when buying this because its hit and miss if you'll get a defective one like I have.

What I did not like about this product was that the inlet water tube opening was not machined correctly. I had to use excessive force and a vice to thread the inlet tube in. I tried both the new tube I bought and the original but neither would thread more than 1/8". Both hand threaded into the stock water pump easily. The angle of the inlet opening was also off and required me to orient the inlet tube different than stock just so it would not rub on the valve cover. That being said, I can see how the additional plate on the pump fins should increase efficiency and it has held together and not leaked for the few days it has been in operation. However, with such a glaring lack of quality control, I would not buy this product again and am not hopeful about it's longevity.
