The Chinook 1 - Chariot's Urban Explorer The Chinook 1 is the first product in Chariot's Urban Series. The carrier is uniquely equipped with integrated dual strolling and jogging functionality, allowing for varied urban adventures right out of the box. Unlimited Possibilities Like all Chariot child carriers, the Chinook utilizes modular Chariot CTS (Child Transport System), which provides parents and caregivers, with a choice of how to maintain or embark on an active lifestyle, and bring their children along. The chassis of Chariot carriers can be combined with a variety of conversion kits, allowing for multiple outdoor activities, including: jogging, strolling, bike trailer, hiking and cross-country skiing (kits sold separately). Stroll or Jog With the Pivoting and Locking Front Wheel The Chinook's unique, integrated pivoting and locking front wheel allows users to use the carrier out of the box for both strolling and jogging. For stroller functionality, the wheel is lifted up into position from its folded position against the bottom of the carrier. Clicking it into place makes it the front, third wheel in the carrier's stroller configuration. The support structure of the wheel projects slightly forward from the carrier frame, and the wheel axle slightly from its forks. In stroller mode the wheel is free to spin 360-degrees, providing traditional stroller mobility. To transition to jogging stroller mode the wheel rotates until it projects forward, and locks into place. The forward direction of the wheel support, and the forward position of the wheel when locked into place spread the weight of the carrier, providing stability during jogging sessions. New Wings for Connecting Kits The Chinook features new side oriented wing structures for connecting conversion kits. They have a more streamlined look, but still have all the same easy-to-use slide and lock functionality. Integrated into the wings are mechanics preventing a bicycle trailer kit hitch arm from entering the wing when a car seat is placed on the carrier. Safety is Chariot's primary concern. Full-Featured Chassis In addition to its multi-sport functionality, the Chinook 1 chassis is enhanced for your child's safety and comfort, as well as overall performance during use, with superior features such as: Comfortable and Convenient Seating Chinook seats are designed with additional padding for children's comfort and safety. In addition, the seats are removable -- including a divider -- providing extra space as children grow and easy clean up. 5-Point Child Safety Harness Children are secured within the cockpit with a unique 5-point padded harness system that attaches and detaches at the touch of a button. Harnesses feature a ASTM 833 compliant rating, ensuring your child's safety. A Large, Roomy Cockpit The carrier frame is roomy at 40.6"/103 cm (l) x 26"/66 cm (w) x 37.5"/95.5 cm (h), and contains integrated helmet space. The front frame also provides plenty of leg room and low step-in height for your children. Temperature and Visibility Control Temperature and airflow control inside the cockpit is managed through a combination of side window vents and the 2-in-1 weather cover. The cover rolls up and down as needed, providing either full protection against the elements, or a mesh barrier. UV blocking tinted polyurethane windows at the sides can be zipped down to reveal mesh panels. An integrated central sun shade is also available for sun protection. Reclining Seat Position Reclining seat functionality adjusted from the exterior rear of the carrier, and an internal footmat are perfect for on-the-go naps. Accessory Crossbar The integrated accessory crossbar easily mounts a range of convenient accessories (accessories sold separately). Four Position Adjustable Handlebar The carrier features an integrated, handlebar which adjusts to one of four positions to accommodate users of differing heights. Convenient Parking Brake The axle oriented parking brake ensures that the carrier remains in place at the touch of your foot. One-Handed Chassis Folding One-handed chassis foldability managed from the handlebar makes for easy transportation of your carrier. Rear wheels that can be removed with the push of a button. Roomy, Rugged Frame The chassis frame is constructed of rugged anodized aluminum tubing covered with water resistant, photoluminescent Energlo fabric for 360-degree visibility when in use. Chariot Adjustable Suspension Chariot Adjustable Suspension (CAS) allows the chassis to instantly be adjusted for the comfort of children before each ride, and provides even distribution of weight over the life of your Chariot as children grow. Ample Storage The chassis has an oversized rear mesh cargo compartment, with integrated smaller storage pocket, perfect for child care items of almost any size.
