Serious Quality Control Issues - 1 star
UPDATE 2020-02-29: Received a replacement pair, again not waterproof out of the box, reducing the review to 1 star. Have no interest in buying Columbia shoes ever again.Original:I really want to like this shoe, considering the wide is perfect for my feet and they are very comfortable, but it seems to be luck of the draw as to whether or not your shoes will be correctly waterproofed. I received two pairs of different sizes as I tend to be between sizes in a lot of shoes and tested how waterproof each one was. One pair was completely waterproof, including the tongue, even when submerged. Another pair had water start leaking in at the seam between the tongue and the base of the shoe. Sadly, the one that leaked is the better fitting shoe. I'm hoping to get a new pair that doesn't leak, and will update as such.

Comfortable BUT they wont hold up long. Cracking immediately on toe bends.
Long time Solomon customer, decided to give these a try after reading the good reviews and seeing the great price. Waterproof is huge for me. Ive worn them to my desk job twice now to help break them in. They have already started to crack at the toe bends. Probably not affecting the waterproofness yet, but will be a trouble spot down the road. Highly doubt these boots will hold up for anyone who intends to use then for actual hiking. Suprisingly comfortable and lightweight so I'm dissapointed. I will check back in a week and update. Going to take a good hike this weekend and its very wet out.UPDATE 6/15: I've probably got 50ish miles hiked in these boots. Probably the most comfortable boots I've owned, broke in very quickly and suprisingly still waterproof. I'm changing my review from 3 stars to 5, and im sorry for doubting these boots. They may not remain waterproof for another 50 miles, but for the price I don't think I could buy a better boot.

Any boot that cost over $60 should last the year.
I bought these boots back in August 2019 and have been using them for work Mon-Fri 9-5 and a few hiking trips ever since. I'll say they lasted me a solid 8 to 9 months and although I did put them through hell, if i pay over $60 for a pair of boots i expect them to last at least a full year so that is why they lost a star. Other than that they got the job done for those 9 months helping me walk through all sorts of terrains for my job every day. They fit really comfortably for the first 6 months until the bottom of the shoe started wearing out. They were pretty water resistant for the first 7 months untill the stitching started ripping. I just wish for the $80 plus I spent that they would of lasted a solid 10 months and at least held together for the last 2 to make the year.

Fit great/ Care
I have bought many work boots. What I have learned is to buy 1/2 size up on boots. The reason is if it’s the exact size I wear, they are tight and don’t last all season. The 1/2 size up helps me with having loose mobility in my toes for the summer. Which if I need to wear them in the winter, I wear thermal socks instead. However this is my first Columbia boots, but I usually spend around $200+ on work boots.I do buy Danner boots and they tend to last me around 2+ years. One pair of Danner’s I own have lasted me for 10 years. These probably won’t last as long on just general usage. However I plan on using the boot cleaners made by Kiwi for suede like I do for my expensive boots. This will definitely help last a few months longer.

I summited Mt Adams and these were perfect.
I just tested these boots on a grueling climb along the north route of Mt Adams, WA. I couldn’t have done it without these boots. They were:1) Durable on scree fields (sharp lava rock boulders). Minimal scratches, no holes or torn tread.2) Lightweight, not much heavier than a running shoe.3) Rigid, yet flexible. They moved effortlessly each step, but we’re hearty enough to kick footholds into loose rock4) Warm, but not too warm. Feet didn’t sweat much and I went from 80 degrees at the base to 20 degrees at the summit.5) Comfortable. Didn’t notice I was wearing them most of the time.6) Waterproof. Both through small streams, rain, and snow. I got hit by all 3. Zero water. My brothers had fancy boots worth over $300 and they were heavy and wore out. These performed better!I’m not a boot guy, but these I adore. I tested these in every regard and they couldn’t have performed better.

Incredible boot, not what I need out of a boot.
For somebody who returned this boot I was completely satisfied with my purchase. The boot itself was just not quite what I needed. I think this boot is for colder, wetter conditions than I’ll be experiencing. I needed a boot that would be more breathable in mid summer hiking so I went with a “water resistant” boot as opposed to this “waterproof” boot. If you will be in a lot of dewy conditions, crossing creeks, or hiking in the snow these are the boots for you. I just didn’t need the full water protection these boots provide because I didn’t want to sweat too much in an essentially non breathable boot. Great at keeping water out, but traps heat in. If you are interested in an affordable waterproof boot with impeccable traction look no further. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because they run a bit tight. I have a narrow foot and like my hiking boots to be tight but these are very snug. Still would recommend. They just didn’t serve the purpose I need out of a boot.

Bad quality
I had good experience with Columbia products in the past and went for the brand because I thought they have decent quality. I wore these for about 7 months (mid April to now) when biking to and from work almost every day. There’s not a lot of walking involved but obviously they had to withstand the rain. For the last 2-3 weeks water has been getting in and the sole is detaching on the side. I’d like to return these but didn’t keep my invoice and don’t actually know how to do it. Needless to say that I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with this product and would absolutely not recommend anyone to buy it. If somebody from Columbia reads this, I’d appreciate if you reached out and can help me sort this out.

Comfortable right out of the box!
I never trust reviews that say the shoe is comfortable right out of the box but these really are! A first for me. I didn't need any break in period. I purchased these hiking boots for the purpose of hiking. I had purchased another pair that over time turned out just to be too narrow for my feet. I have flat feet and after a long hike, the sides of my feet are crammed against the sides so I thought maybe going with a wide shoe was the way to go. These are perfect. They are not too wide, they give me just enough extra room to keep my feet comfortable. I went on a five day hike throughout Zion averaging 15 miles a day, hiking 7-8 hours a day over snow, mud, ice and rocky terrain and these hikers were fantastic -- really are very comfortable. Was waterproof for the most part on my trip. I've read countless reviews these shoes do not wear well and I'm okay with that... planning to use mink oil on them and hopefully I can squeeze a few years out of them. So if you are like me and normally wear a regular sized hiker but need just a bit more room to keep things comfortable without scarificing angle support and traction, these are a good pair to consider in the wide.

cheaply made
I drive a Five ton truck and do bulk pickups for a living, I was looking for a comfortable hikers.I chose Columbia because I have used their product before and trusted them. I think they went to the cheap side of town for these Columbia mens Newton Ridge plus II because I bought them April 30th 2020 and their completely worn out after six months. The metal lace tangs are weak and bend .Very dissapointed !

Great boots
Got these a month ago, so I think is fair time to write a review.Comfortable: these are really comfy, the moment I put my feet in it feels amazing. After hours of hiking you won’t feel any discomfort.Grip: really good grip all terrain. I’ve tried these in pavement, gravel, grass, mud, once you put your foot on the ground it’ll stay there.Waterproof: this was my mainly concern. Went fishing last weekend, I literally had my feet under water ankle deep, day was 5 Celsius so lake was cold. After 3 minutes my feet were cold(obviously not winter boots) so I went to my chair and take the boots off to check my feet and any inside leak. Everything was perfect! Guess the cold made me think feet were wet.You can get $200 boots way better than these for sure, but if you are in a budget or just want to save some money, these boots are a great option. I mean, they do the work.

Great boots for winter commute
I primarily use this to get to and from work. My walk consists of walking on concrete and asphalt (and some grassy/snow ground) to the streetcar in the morning (6 mins) and another few mins to walk to work. These boots are comfortable, warm and protect against snow and water, and have a great grip on slippery surfaces. Exactly what I wanted and looking for. Bonus for great style +++++

Nice looking and great sale price.
They look nice and fit well. I have only worn them once for a couple of hours while out shopping. Had no issues with traction on snow. I applied leather protector the night before I wore them out. Good sale price.
