Simple operation, quiet and moves a lot of air
I bought this fan (Lorell Desk Fan, 12 Oscillating) along with the Honeywell Whole Room Air Circulator Floor/Table Fan, HT-908 for use in a bedroom and living room. This is a simple oscillating table fan with a UL listed (2 prong) plug so it will fit in any outlet - a nice feature in my house with very few 3 prong outlets. The plug seems to be robust with a cord that is about three feet long. It's not a long cord but it reaches the outlet where I need it to reach without an extension cord or power strip. This fan was simple to put together without instructions or vision, just remember that the locknut is reverse threaded so it won't shake loose with the fan rotation. I like the push button controls: Off/Low/Medium/High over a rotary dial. As far as operation, I was really impressed with how quiet and gentle sounding this fan is, even at high speed. It also moves an amazing amount of air for such a small fan. I'm not a frequent user of the oscillating option but it's a nice feature. The fan can be tilted up and down to adjust pitch without loosening a knob. Compared to the Honeywell, this fan feels like it moves more air and has a seemingly smoother sound. I believe it is both quieter and gentler, if that makes sense. The Honeywell moves a lot of air too and is not an oscillating fan. It is more compact so if you have tight spaces, you may want to consider the Honeywell as it performs well too. Along with the more noticeable sound, another thing I didn't like about the Honeywell is the switch that is located on the rear top of the fan and can be more difficult to reach and operate without physically turning the fan around to reach the rotary control. My 9 year old son likes the Honeywell as he thinks it looks "cool". While the Honeywell is a very decent fan, my preference is definitely with this Lorell . It was well packaged and arrived quickly. Assembly took me less time than unpacking but I don't have the option to sit and read instructions first.

GREAT TABLE FAN
A great tilting and oscillating table fan in a convenient size. I donโt use the oscillation feature, but I do make use of the tilt and swivel features. Quiet for its size, relatively light weight, good air movement, and durable. The power cord is 5 feet long. As my other brands of fans die, I replace them with comparable Lorell fans. Three down, one to go. Easy to assemble with clear assembly instructions. When you open the shipping box, remove the plastic carry handle from the box and save it โ you may want to attach it to the fan. I would recommend starting the fan assembly by attaching the base first, so that the fan body can stand upright by itself while you attach the grille and fan blades. The only tool possibly needed would be a medium sized Phillips head screwdriver if you want to install the small screw located on the underside of the base. Open the three latches (top and sides) on the back grille section. Note that the inner nut for securing the back of the grille is already attached to the main unit and must be removed before attaching the back section of the grille and then securing it with the back nut. Attach the fan blade and secure with the nut for the front of the blade, which is packaged with the fan blade. Attach the front section of the grille and secure by clamping with the three grille latches. The thin fixed metal handle at the back of the fan grille is not the most convenient fan handle ever invented, especially for large hands. But the fan can always be picked up by the motor housing. And if you remove the plastic carry handle from the shipping box, it can be attached to the back of the grille for a more convenient fan handle.

Rock-solid value for an oscillating fan.
This fan is a steal at less than $20 dollars. I had a couple of minor issues during assembly....more on that later...but had it up and running in less than 10 minutes. I left it on at the Low setting for several hours to test it and it passed with flying colors. The fan oscillates smoothly, no wobbling or jerky movements. And it's surprisingly quiet for such a cheap fan. The motor housing was still cool, even after being on for 4 hours. I've seen some other reviews where people had complaints about assembly. Here's what I found. The wire cage guard, as it is with many fans of this type, is a 2-piece affair with 3 clips being on the back half. Apparently, after they're made, the guards are painted and this makes the clips really stiff. You have to open these clips, then close them to secure the front half of the guard. The second issue was with the plastic nut to secure the blades to shaft. This is the 'spinner nut' on the front of the fan. After putting it on, there's still a gap between the nut and the blade assembly, plus it's a little uneven with a larger gap at the bottom than the top (see photo). I was afraid to tighten this down any more for fear of stripping the threads or breakage. This gap doesn't affect the operation of the fan, so it's a minor complaint. It just makes for a sort of a wonky appearance. But overall, this fan is a 5-star winner.

Seems pretty flimsy. Hope it holds up
Thought I'd better update after ~ 4 months of use. Despite out-of-box problem (110 V plug contact failure), the fan has worked flawlessly since March. All the pros (quiet, good air flow) still hold true. And I now prefer the 5-position vertical ratchet (in lieu of the usual set-screw) - much easier to adjust vertical aim. The fan has never autonomously switched from fixed to horizontal oscillation (major problem with old fans). I highly recommend this product, but will leave it at 4 stars because of instruction errors and plug contact issues. Pros: Reasonably attractive design, inexpensive, quiet, seems to move a lot of air, oscillation switch works (for now). Cons: 1) What's with the 110V plug? I really thought this fan was DOA. Assembled, plugged it in, pressed all the buttons in turn, nothing happened. Tried the other socket in the same outlet - nothing. Installed the base screw (not believing this would help), plugged it in - still nothing - but when I pulled the plug, noticed the blades made a quarter-turn. Plugged it into the same outlet again, jiggled the plug, and it started blowing! We use this outlet weekly (slow-cooker, vegetable steamer, blender, etc., etc.) - never had any appliance fail to make circuit. Took it upstairs to the bedroom, plugged it in, still nothing until I jiggled the plug in the outlet. ????? 2) Assembly/Use instructions are beyond comprehension, and diagrams are a mystery. There's a round plastic nut you unscrew from the motor housing before positioning the rear metal grill, then screw it back on to secure the rear grill. Next slide on the blade and secure with knob ("screw spinner") which has counter-clockwise threads (tightens backwards). Instructions say to "unscrew the spinner clockwise" when you remove the round plastic nut, but the "spinner" on my unit was packaged separately, not attached to the motor shaft. Finally, position the front grille (fixed slots at clockface 4:00 and 8:00) and secure the clamps (clockface 10:00 - 12:00 - 2:00). 3) Instructions say that to adjust airflow up or down, you loosen the "swivel adjustment knob." There's no such thing on the product I received. Just grasp the motor housing and ratchet to one of five up/down positions. Seems pretty flimsy. Hope it holds up. It's cheap. It's quiet. Oscillation can be disabled (for now - MAJOR PROBLEM with old fans auto-switching back to oscillation). Jiggle the 110V plug. Figure out how to assemble on your own. 1-Year warranty. Might want to consider other options...

ABOUT THE NOISES
I'm confused by the customer pictures of short fans with plastic cages and lights. The fan I ordered and received is a conventional white fan with a base with 4 buttons, a neck, an oscillating head, and a wire cage around the 3 wide plastic blades. This is what I wanted, to replace a very old fan of very similar design. This fan appears very similar including the guts, which makes me hopeful it will last for years like my old fan. I run my fan almost continuously for white noise, clothes drying, (hang clothes in front of it) and air circulation. The first day or two I ran it, it made a fairly annoying high pitched whining noise on the low setting. (medium and high didn't make the same noise.) After that, the whine went away. It comes back sometimes for short periods but it's not bad. It makes a fair amount of other noises. THIS IS WHAT I WANT! When it's oscillating it makes irregular noises, which is great for covering up irregular noises from outside, which I think makes it a perfect noise machine for sleeping. I will update if anything changes. UPDATE: I ordered this almost a year ago. The fan has been running almost daily (and all day, for several days in a row at a time) for 10-11 months, almost exclusively on the low setting. It does not squeak or whine at all anymore, I guess that was just a new fan thing. It makes its nice whirring and faint clunking noises as it oscillates. There have been no problems. It is like my old high quality fan. I am very pleased.

Great Little Fan...
Read some of the reviews and bought with a bit of hesitation, but the price point was right. Living in Texas, you get used to running through fans in the insane Summer. This guy was easy to assemble, is as quiet as any oscillating fan I have ever purchased, moves the air like it is supposed to do and has not been turned off since i plugged it in over a month ago (well, had to clean it a few times, but you know what I mean. it can do the work!)... Anyway, highly recommend this for a bedroom or a study, works great...-0

Great little fan, pushes a nice quantity of air, well made for a plastic fan.
We purchased this fan for my daughter's dorm room where it runs 24 hours a day for weeks at a time. I looked at many reviews before purchasing this fan, and chose this one because it was rated highly, was easy to use, and was said to be durable. Now that four months have passed, I can report that it lives up to expectations and we're very satisfied. It's mostly quiet. As a plastic fan, it's going to have some wobble and air noise, but it is much quieter than previous fans. The buttons are easy to press and are solid enough that they haven't broken (unlike the speed selector control we had on a previous lasko fan). The cord is long enough to reach the outlet, and it moves a reasonable volume of air, nothing spectacular, but good enough for a dorm room. If this fan broke tomorrow, I'd still buy the exact same one all over again.

Well made
This fan is very well made, and is easy to assemble. I like the fact that it is easy to come apart to clean and washes up great. It is quiet and pushes a lot of air, this is the second one of these fans that I have, the first fan is several years old and still works like a charm.

Heavy duty desk fan.
Fan was of superior quality and shipped quickly. I bought this fan for white noise while I slept. Problem for me is it is so well built, that it's TOO quiet. I doubt that's a problem for many people so 5 stars for sure.
