Morning and Evening Prayerbook

This is a beautiful book of daily prayers. There are countless books on the subject of prayer and how to pray, but that's not what I had been searching for. As the title states, each page has a prayer for the morning and one for the evening. The pages are entitled with a calendar date and there is a bookmark ribbon attached to the binding. The prayers are an array of writings from antiquity to contemporary. Happily there is no commentary to explain the prayers. For that I am most grateful. Only a byline and a date of the author or of the source of the prayer. I have found that I look forward to reading the next prayer to see what Our God is going to reveal to me. It keeps my prayer life fresh.

This book is exactly what I was looking for to share in a daily devotional with my wife. For each day of the year there is a Morning Prayer and and Evening Prayer to read together. The collection of prayers has been thoughtfully curated by the authors from across the vast liturgical history of the Church, both East and West, ancient and modern. The daily calendar also highlights prominent Christian feast days, and includes periodic illustrations. The book itself is a nice hardback, comfortable in the hands, with thick, deckle edged pages.This was such a wonderful find, and we use it to start and end each day together. Thank you to the authors for putting together this fantastic collection of prayers. It is a treasured resource in our daily spiritual life.

Lovely collection, simple enough to actually use as designed (morning and evening). Diverse voices are represented in the selections, which makes each day something fresh to anticipate and encounter. Made a wonderful and much-appreciated gift.

My daughter gave me this book for Christmas a year ago and it has been a daily source of inspiration and hope! Definitely one of the best Christmas gifts ever! I highly recommend it! Beautiful, honest, thoughtful prayers for all seasons and a wonderful start and finish to each day of the year!
