This is 100% what it's advertised to be. I've wanted one for a long time but couldn't justify the significantly higher price from ThinkGeek. I was on Amazon looking for a present for my father in law's birthday and came across this. There was much squealing and slapping at my husband and we immediately ordered it. It arrived quickly and very well packaged. It smells heavenly, like freshly cut wood. We had to do a bit of trial and error with batteries because it didn't come with any, even though it was advertised to. It also didn't work with AA, we used two AAA batteries and it works like a charm. I do wish it moved just a little slower when turning itself off, but we've already done 'quality control' for a good 10 minutes and love it. It seems perfect for the guy who brought home a broken doorbell that chimed randomly and used it to torment his family for days.

OMG. This is just like my adult children. Completely useless since they both move back home.When asked to do a chore they say okay and then sit down and don't do it.This little device is the perfect metaphor for their existence on the planet. I hope they change before their batteries run out.PS. they're kind of dim and don't understand the reference to being completely useless.

Love this little box! I can't wait for people to turn on the switch and see the look on their faces when the little finger pops out of the box and switches itself back off!Regardless of some other, ahem, "reviews", yes the box is indeed made of wood (don't know what they think it is), and it takes 2 (two) double-A (2A) batteries exactly as described.It is light weight, but reasonably well made, and the wood is stained nicely and smells good. The hinges and latches are metal and look like tarnished brass which is a perfect look for this application.What more can you ask for of a novelty item like this? Perfect for an office desk, coffee table, anywhere people will see it and inevitably switch it on and get a chuckle. Love it. Have I already said that? It's just that fun.

This thing is a disaster. Where to begin... First, the "useless box" and "push" stenciling looks faded and smudged. I think this thing was manufactured in around 1951. So, it looks bad, let's pop in batteries and see if it works...I open the unit to find the motor and guts at a 45 degree angle. This doesn't seem right. Let's add batteries anyway. Motor doesn't work. Of course. Also, there is a tiny metal piece floating around inside the box. Must be important. Even if the motor worked, the unit wouldn't because when you close the unit while batteries are installed, the motor and guts hit the batteries and knock it to a 45 degree angle. Everything about this is horrible and ill-conceived. No effort at all.

My only complaint is I thought this one would change the time randomly to close.Set Time.

Are you dumb as hell? Have you played toilet tennis? Look left, look right, look left, look right. Do you think fidget spinners are dumb but want to occupy your hands with something mechanical and legal to use in public?BOOM! This useless box is right in your wheelhouse! I bought it as a gag gift and it was a hit. At this price, the laughs are a bargain.I don't know about quality and durability. Lets face it. The novelty will wear off quickly and it will sit on your shelf, and this thing is likely to have the batteries sweat out acid before it will break. I can tell you though, it's clean, cheap fun.

It is what it is, a useless box. Cheap Chinese mass produced product, but looks to be decently made for that sort of thing. Fun gift my wife gave me, which I plan to put on my desk at work to amuse my visiting co-workers.My only complaint, which is echoed in the various customer videos, is there seems to be no consistency with the motor speeds. I don't see any circuitry other than a directly powered little motor (i.e. no resistors to possibly change out to raise or lower the speed of the "finger"). Mine was dreadfully fast; click it and if you blink, you missed it. I even Sharpied the sides of the "finger", which did make it more visible, but still way too fast.So, I took out one of the AA batteries and put a similar sized bolt in there which effectively dropped the battery voltage to the motor from 3v to 1.5v and now it runs slow enough for people to see. Quick fix for those that I see having issue with too-fast motor speeds.Mine did have the wording on it,

Useless, fun. I keep it by my bedroom door on a table and my daughters will occasionally flick it when walking by.

This product DID NOT work. Apparently, the only other person that bought one also had the same problem. Had to pay to send it back to get a refund. Like it was MY fault the product was crap.
