Decent speakers at a reasonable price.
Product sounds really good. I have a couple Bose speakers in the house, as comparison these speakers are not as bright in sound. They carry a more dominant mid-tone to my ear which is subjective to each person. They have the ability to go pretty loud depending on your receiver and have not distorted. There is a reason they have been in production since 2005. If you are thinking about adding some outdoor speakers but aren’t looking to break the bank, these speakers will not disappoint. I could not be happier with them. My 4 star on the sound is really a preference thing, others may think they are straight up 5. From the install perspective, these speakers come with the mounting bracket, but do not include screws. I used a couple exterior grade screws to fasten to the soffit above my desk. Once the bracket is up, the speakers slide in and then you tighten the cap on either side. Very easy to do (the hard part is running the wires, but that has nothing to do with the speakers themselves). Overall I do rank these as a 5 for value. They are above the quality you might expect for the price point and get the job done. They are a nice set of speakers that should add enjoyment to your outdoor space for years to come.

Blown away great value
The media could not be loaded. I had a pair of 24 year old Paradigm speakers mounted above our hot tub. One of the tweeters was blown but I figured it didn’t matter because of the hot tub noise. Recently had a nice project land and had some extra cash so thought I’d try replacing them with these Polk Atrium’s. I’m blown away! The Polk’s sound amazing. What the video probably fails to capture is the bass. Full, not boomy, just fantastic full range clear sound. Perfect for this location and I’d absolutely replace my newer Paradigm’s with these if I had to. These will complement the Paradigm’s on the separate Deck zone perfectly for when we want party music everywhere.

Big sound in a small package when paired with appropriate amplifier. Impressive and efficient!
I had been looking for an outdoor solution to have music out by our pool. After quite a bit of research I landed on the Atrium 4, My initial impression when taking them out of the box was the robust build. They were not kidding when they stated they are military grade. Although i have only had them for about a month I can attest they performed flawlessly after about two weeks of monsoon like rains, I am in Austin which was just hit by flooding.(I have them hung under our awning out of direct rain but they did get wet.) As far as options to power these I did quite a bit of diligent research looking for something that had a small form factor but could power these sufficiently. I purchased the SMSL SA50 50Wx2 TDA7492 Class D Amplifier + Power Adapter (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F0H8TOC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00). This thing as a footprint slightly larger than a deck of cards but because of the efficiency of these speakers this amp has more than a enough power (I have yet to push this past halfway out of fear of neighbor complaints not to mention its audibly uncomfortable). For sound quality paired with this particular amp sounds as my mid range studio monitors. The definition of the highs are impressive and the lows are well balanced without being overly bassy. I have listened a variety of genres ranging from Instrumental Flamenco Guitar to Metal to Funk to Hip Hop to Banging H-Town rap and have been satisfied with all of this. We love this particular setup that we bought another pair for inside the house. For less than 200 dollars you can have a phenomenal setup. Finally have this hooked up to a Logitech Bluetooth adapter for complete wireless control of the whole systems. Now i have the flexibility to play anything I like from any music platform (Spotify, Pandora, Ipods, etc) at a fraction of what a sonos system would cost.

Pleased overall
For $100 these are some pretty good overall outdoor speakers. I had a pair of JBL outdoors that developed some buzzing and pops so I needed a replacement and I went with these. For reference, every other speaker I own (except for a pair in the garage) is JBL, this was my first Polk experience.Generally speaking they are a solid set of speakers. They give a pretty balanced sound all around but lack a little fullness in the lower mid-range. This is particularly noticeable when playing orchestral type music like film scores or piano heavy music. Going from the lower mids to bass is where they really start to have trouble. For the size of the speaker I certainly wasn't expecting to really "feel" bass but these do drop off noticeably in the lower frequency ranges. If there's something to knock with the Atrium 4's, that's it. With other types of music (country, rock, etc...) those issues aren't as noticeable. With that said they offer a nice high end treble sound that is pleasing to the ear. Overall the tone is brighter than I generally prefer (all of my JBL's have a warmer tone) but it certainly isn't a deal breaker for me. They don't by any stretch of the imagination sound unpleasant. For our purposes, general entertaining...using them for music outside while we do yard work..., they fit the bill very nicely. For $100 I am overall satisfied with this purchase. If you can afford to, or if a flatter overall response is important, then I'd probably look at something a little more expensive. If you are comfortable giving up some sound quality or if budget is an issue then certainly gives these a serious look.Installing these babies was an absolute breeze. The mounting hardware supplied by Polk is virtually idiot proof. It simply could not be any easier to mount these speakers. The installation deserves 5 stars. The fact that they are virtually weatherproof is also a plus, you can mount them just about anywhere without fear of damage from the elements. One other thing I really liked was the ability to swivel and aim the speakers to exactly where I wanted them (this could not be done with our JBL's these replaced).Power handling has not been an issue for me. I've got them hooked up to a 120 watt receiver and they been flawless to this point even at high volumes. We have a relatively large back yard so it takes some juice to disperse the sound and the Atriums are more than capable of taking it.I'll summarize this way; if you're looking for an inexpensive way to get good quality sound outdoors with something that is ridiculously easy to install then the Atrium 4 deserves strong consideration. If you can afford to get in to an upgraded version then I would probably look in that direction solely for a better bass-lower midrange performance.
