Cars of the Sensational '70s, A Decade of Changing Tastes and New Directions

The book arrived in "like new" condition (as advertised) and in the original clear wrapper. Most of the pictures were in color and the book contained 416 pages of cars of the 70s. Although a little short of technical details, it is an excellent pictorial of the cars of this decade. There is also a small section about imported automobiles at the end of each year. I couldn't be happier with the condition and content of this very good 70s car reference publication.

We have the identical books in the 50's and 60's and wanted to include the 70's book with them. It is as good as the other two..

I bought this for my husband who already had cars of the 50's and cars of the 60's. He was very pleased to get another book in this series. Highly recommend for the car enthusiast.

this is the only book i know of that covers the cars of the 70s and it is great and would be hard to beat. covers it all , with super pictures, an d interiors and old adds, ect.

This book suffers from the same shortcomings as the ones on cars of the 50s and 60s: disappointing photos. Before I get into that, let me say that I realize that a book containing all the possible photos that would highlight the cars and their design changes would be a massive tome and likely be prohibitively priced. That being said, surely the editors could have come up with color photos to replace the black and whites. With the plethora of color photos likely available for their use, color would have been the better choice, especially when the text mentions colors and paint schemes. The angle of the photo is also to be considered. When it's mentioned that a certain car changed its taillights, those taillights should be featured. Likewise with any design changes: if they are to be mentioned, they should be shown. I'm not a gearhead. My appreciation of cars is for their aesthetic qualities, so more text from that viewpoint in addition to all the engine size text would be appreciated. The information provided on the pages that opened each calendar year. Listing what movies, TV shows, popular music, and current events of that time brought back memories and also gave some indication as to what tastes were then. In the end, this is a nice addition to anyone's automobile library and a definite must for those of us collection all the decades of this series.

This book is a spectacular resource guide to absolutely every make and model of American cars made in the 1970's.The information provided on each model is so complete you'd think it was written by the automotive manufactures themselves.Thank you James Flammang and the editors of Consumer Guide for another decade of well illustrated memories.

Another pretty good car book from Amazon. I have read from the 1920's through the 1970's and all, including this one, have been excellent. You will find plenty of information on model year changes and technology additions as the decade went on. A pretty interesting read.

Flammang est un très bon historien, et j'ai une tendresse particulière pour les "canards boiteux" de l'automobile, dont les américaines des années '70 sont un bon exemple ; je regrette seulement la part faible consacrée aux imports - je travaille moi-même à un ouvrage sur le sujet - ainsi qu'aux productions US marginales ( Checker, répliques... ) et l'absence d'informations sur les entreprises transformant des modèles existants qui ont commencé à prendre là-bas de l'importance au cours de cette décennie.

Er behandelt die verschiedenen Modelle nach Marken geordnet in chronologischer Reihenfolge. Die Bilder sind überwiegend in Farbe und es ist sicher schwer oder gar unmöglich eine optische schönere Zusammenstellung der amerikanischen Fahrzeuge dieser Dekade in diesem Ausmaß zu finden. Wer ein Herz für Fahrzeuge mit Charakter hat, der kommt an diesem Band nicht vorbei.
