Hilarious
This is the most delightful read I've had in ages. Wodehouse has now become my favorite author. Just about every page I'm chuckling out loud. It's not that the stories themselves are so funny, it's that Wodehouse's descriptions are absolutely hilarious.

PG Wodehouse is the Greatest Humorist in Writing
PG Wodehouse is unquestionably the greatest humorist of the English language. And, since there really is no other language that can so well express nuances of humor (French tries to do so but not as well as English.), Wodehouse may well be considered the greatest written humorist of all time. He must be read. It is not material for a stand-up comic. His phrasing is superb. Indeed, he has invented such phrases as "he was not disgruntled but he most certainly was not gruntled". There is no sexual content, no violence and no profanity. Nevertheless, his stories run the gamut of embarrassing moments, heightened emotion, tension, laughter, interwoven plots. And, all it all works out in the end.

to respond to some of the reviews above
$1 collections like this contain only only the most out of copyright material. Everything by Wodehouse is (c) in the EU, most everything is PD in Canada but if first published in the US after 1922 a book is probably still in copyright in the US, which covers a lot (Something New was serialized in Britain in 1915 and his first Jeeves short story was published that year but ...US pub may have been later.)

Great storehouse
So many wonderful stories to entertain. I enjoyed this book for several months. A great bargain. We need more great writers today.

Sports play-by-play detail is deadly dull
I was disappointed. I love the Jeeves stories and some of the other short stories, but the collection turned out to be mostly cricket and golf stories of games told play-by-play. Unfamiliar as I am with cricket I did follow the first public school year of our leading character, but batsmanship and scoring wore thin. There are a few fun stories toward the end of the book, but it even took forever to find them in the table of contents. I missed Bertie Wooster and his Aunt Agatha.

Wonderful, relaxing reading
The hilarity of P.G. Wodehouse is the way his characters elevate silly, ordinary events into dramatic crises. Witty, hilarious, entertaining, and relaxing. So nice to be transported into a world where everything works out in the end.

Wonderfully sillyl
Great value collection of the works of PG Wodehouse. Many hours of gentle amusement and escapism. Wodehouse depicts a privilege and very human world of terrifying aunties, silly heroes and manipulative heroines, pompous uncles and far wiser and more sensible servants. Everyone has an eye to the main chance and yet the stories are ultimately rather innocent. There was a darker side to Wodehouse's own life but it never intrudes into the fantasy world described in his books.
