Practical little fan, love it
I re ordered this fan because I have one and during the months after Hurricane Maria this fan was very helpful. I like that you can angle it back and forth all the way up to a flat position to adjust it, and its base is small to fit in a small table or night stand. I love it and the blades are soft so it wont cut if you accidentally touch it. It uses 4D batteries and the batteries last a couple of days if you use it all day on low. Some reviewers commented that the fan is noisy or doesn't work. I don't have that problem. It's not a very powerful fan like an electric fan but the air is good for those hot summer nights without electricity. It must be placed close to the body.

Five stars for fifteen bucks
My tent is 10' x 14'. Inside a smaller tent, this fan would probably be more effective to cool multiple people, but when you are just using it on one person from nearby, tent size is not a factor. I estimate that on the low setting it's good for 1-1.5 people and on high for 2-3 people.Since the fan lacks guards and oscillation, it is fairly low-weight (the D-cells not so much). Even so, I can't imagine anybody carrying this on their back for a hiking trip.I used this fan for 10 days of summer camping and it made a huge difference inside my tent. Be warned that I only used this for myself on low setting, inches away from me, but it would have done the same job on high from two feet distance. If you have ever tried to sleep inside a tent in the summer (especially a nylon tent in direct sunlight) you know that it can be impossible. This fan makes it possible, or at least helps you sleep an hour or two later. In the past, after 10 days of camping I have been exhausted due to the inability to sleep [I stay up very late]. Others may wish to get up at sunrise and attempt to take a nap later, in the hotter portion of the day. This fan might allow you to do that. It won't overcome 100 degree weather, but on high it could make it feel like 90, for what it's worth. If you are car-camping anyway, and need a serious cooling system, I'd recommend instead the Westward 1UCE9 Fan, Clip On, 12 V, Dia 6 In and a 12V battery charger such as the Energizer 84020 All-in-One 12V 18Ah Battery Jumpstarter with Air Compressor and Power Inverter . This fan is easily 5x more powerful (and 5x heavier) than the Coleman, and oscillates, so it could cool 5-6 people, or drop the temperature for one person considerably. It has the advantage of 24+ hours of battery life, as well as a bright lantern light for your tent, outlets to recharge portable devices, and it can jump-start your car or inflate a flat tire.

When it works it is great!
I bought 2 of these fans for tent camping. One came broken, but we didn't know that until we were at the campsite. The working one was great in our 4 person tent. It really helped cool us enough so we could sleep. Was a little noisy, but you would expect that in a tent at a quiet campground. It uses 4 D batteries. We went camping for 2 nights. The fan ran about 20 hours total, and we still have battery life left. The Non working fan, came with the Motor sheared off. Because we didn't open the box, we didn't know. That is our fault for not checking them before we left. Amazon was great at replacing it. The new one came the next day. However, the new one is also broke. It works fine, but it will not turn off without taking the batteries out. I have contacted Amazon for a replacement.I am very disappointed in this product. Since it has the Coleman name, I thought it would be a good product. But having to have to replace it twice, doesn't say much for the quality of the product. This is a Coleman issue, not a Amazon issue. Amazon, I have no complaints with. Coleman I do.I would buy this fan again, if I could be sure it worked. Like I said, early in my review, the working one really helped.

I love my new Coleman camping fan, for real!!
What a fantastic item! I'm one of those guys that likes to have a fan around moving the air even when it's cool in the house because I like to feel of rushing air. On a recent camping trip it was going to be a little warmer than anticipated and I tried to imagine sleeping in my tent without a fan. So I researched around and found a lot of junk but then the folks at Coleman who've been making camping gear for God knows how long....have this lightweight fan and it works amazingly well.First of all the size of the fan is most appealing because the blades are actually big enough to move a good amount of air. The tilt feature is absolutely fantastic. You can position the fan pointing right at you or you can have it positioned to just move the air above you. there is no protective covering over the blades because you don't need them... they're a soft material safe for kids although I wouldn't let my kid come anywhere near this cool toy. Very durable and it is now situated in my camping gear box. Uses D batteries and we went on a 5-day outing I used the fan everyday. Batteries did not die. If you're like me and you enjoy fans blowing on you and this is the item you want. Nothing else is big enough to move the volume of air to be called a fan. But the folks at Coleman just hit a Grand slam in my eyes. I was not compensated for review and this opinion is in my own words about an item I bought with my own money. I offer this review voluntarily and encourage everyone to do so when purchasing items on Amazon. It really helps people looking for good stuff

Coleman Free-Standing Tent Fan Small Yes! Still A Great Fan
HiI purchased two of these little fans, after trying to get them in Australia. I was told I was unable to get them anymore. I am happy to say that I was able to get them from Amazon :-)It Gets very hot here in Australia, and we are planning on camping at the hottest time of the year, so I wanted something that will help with the high heat and I think that with two of these fans though it will still be hot it will help to keep the air moving around in our family tent. The fans fold into quite a compact size and they can tilt in many different positions. As they run on batteries we can move them around the tent without the problem of cords to trip over. I think we will have many times we can use them around the house so it wont just be when we are camping.I am very happy with our fans and very happy I was able to still get them from Amazon.

Will use it for camping
We bought 2 of these to use in our trailer. It doesn't move a lot of air but will probably be good for sleeping. It has foam blades so you can't get hurt but firmer ones would push more air. Takes 4 D batteries so the base is heavy enough to stand up. ...we will see how good it is next summer.

Great fan - really like it
Great fan - really like it. Only one minor thing - the high speed is a bit noisy (because I use it by my bedside). The low speed is actually quite powerful and quiet.I also like the fact that you can stick your finger in it and the soft blades won't hurt (so great if you have kids around.)I would actually give this a 4.7 rating because it's solid and powerful (just has a minor noise at the higher level).

Works well.
Surprisingly powerful for something that takes D batteries. It has 2 settings low and high. Compact and easy to set up. Not super loud which isn’t great for me as I use it for the white noise.

Bad battery life
I used the product camping at a festival, battery life was short but great product.

Great fan!
Perfect for camping, sitting outside when there is no breeze, or in small spaces with little air flow. The batteries last a long time, and it makes all the difference when there is zero air movement in a tent. It's compact, light weight, and quiet. It makes just enough of a buzzing sound to emulate "white noise". Highly recommended!
