Mad CatzF.R.E.Q.4D Gaming Stereo Headphones Headset with Microphone for PC, Mac, and Smart Devices

Very good headset.PROS:It works great for simple gaming, gaming with Skype works well, and music is fine. I'm getting Shure SE215s to replace these for music listening, but I will continue to use these to game with. Rome 2 Total War, Team Fortress 2, Napoleon Total War, Nemesis of the Roman Empire, ROBLOX, Minecraft, and a few flash player games that I have tested and used these with have worked great, with the sound working perfectly.CONS:Skype seems (seems) to have a few issues. I get a few annoying noises in the high register while on some calls (not sure if it is the mic of my friends or just the headset), but this is not the case for most calls, and the mic is great. My friends say they can hear me clearly.POSSIBLE ISSUES WITH REVIEW:I do not play any console games, nor any of the mainstream FPS games which have more emphasis on audio (Team Fortress 2 does not exactly put a premium on hearing footsteps), so this review shouldn't be the sole basis on which someone who plays those games bases his/her purchase.

I read the reviews and took a chance on buying these headsets -- and they are great! BTW: I use the headsets for listening to music and watching video. Here is information that wasn't clear from the description and reviews.- Large and adjustable: I am a big person and both the overall headset and the ear cups fit perfectly! In fact, the headset would fit someone who has even a larger head than I do (XL hat size / most hats don't fit me).- Tri-mode: The headset has 3 modes -- gaming, music/video, and voice. So, you can select the right sound for the right task, very nice!- Enhanced bass: You can turn on the enhanced bass for games and movies or leave it off. It's a nice option.- Noise isolation: The headset has very good but not total noise isolation from the outside. It's nice for someone like me who always has to monitor what the kids are doing.- Sturdy: The headset is very sturdy and the connecting cord is beefy as well. So, it appears that it will stand up well over time.Overall, I am very pleased with this product!

Have been using a pair of JVC headphones to listen to Pandora while working on the computer, then heard about this new Mad Catz FREQ 4D and gave them a try. The ear pieces provide full and complete ear coverage, the head support provides just the right tension to bring the head set to keep the outside noises outside and the quality of sound in your ears where it belongs. Well-crafted and assembled. Comes with two cables, one for standard 1/8" male jack and other connects to the USB port. Easy programming instructions, took me less than 20 sec to set up in CONTROL PANEL so that it is my default head set and microphone. Yes, has a built in microphone also. Volume control on side provides full range of adjustment of volume.Tried a mix of music from acoustical guitar by Joe Satriani, some Cold Play, depth of sound is like nothing I have experienced yetClose your eyes and you will get lost in the sound, seems to surround you, These will last me a life time, well worth the investment, MAD CATZ F.R.E.Q. 4D, the last head set you will ever buy.....

Very good, the 4D is a plus if you listen to a lot of bass (DnB, Trap, Dubstep etc), the microphone works really good ( no one complained on Curse/Skype when I talked over). I actually enjoyed the 4D feature on movies as well, it gives you that cinema boost from everywhere.The only issue I had with it its that first time when I plugged them on the PC I didn't get almost no bass on it, I had the 4D working but there was no bass from the speakers. I searched on the internet and I found out that you should just uninstall the headset from Device Manager, then restart the PC and then plug the headphones again. Windows ( Win 10 in my case) installed the driver automatically and now I have one of the best BASS+ experience at a bargain of the price. Plus, you have to admit it, the headset looks pretty cool. Oh yeah, it is a bit heavy, but you get used to it, plus the materials seem of a very good quality.Game ON!!!

Bought these for my son, I don't think he's taken them off his head since. He wanted them for gaming and they seem to do the job ok.
