The SA 330 Puma was created as a response to the French Army's call for a new all-weather helicopter. France wanted an aircraft which can carry considerable weight that it can use in a wide array of missions. The first prototypes flew on April 1965; it wasn't until 1968 that the Puma was introduced to the public. Interestingly, the helicopter gained recognition even before it was released. In 1967, the Royal Air Force was impressed by the specs of the Puma helicopter. This led to a joint venture between Aerospatiale and Westland Helicopters that would produce the re-designated Puma HC Mk1.This handcrafted model is painted in the same paint scheme as the original and is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen.
